I have 442 mounts and have been unable to trigger the 400 mount collection achievement (Hordes of Hoofbeats, I believe).
I understand that all 400 need to be useable on a single character, but I’ve tried every character I have and none are triggering it, even though I’m sure that at least one if not several can use over 400 of them. I’ve learned new mounts, as a GM recommended, which also hasn’t triggered it.
I find it incredibly hard to believe that of the 442 I own, I don’t have a single character who can use 400 of them.
I’ve been patient for what seems like years, and may have been. I’ve spoken to a GM, who recommended a bug report if buying more mounts and learning them didn’t work (which it didn’t, as I mentioned).

it’s a bit deceptive… the number you’re looking at is the total for all mounts, including mounts which can only be used by the opposing faction… which don’t count towards the total.
if you look at your tracker for the 400 mount achievement in game, it should be showing 396/400
only 4 more to go

It does say 4 more to go, but I only have 1 mid-level Alliance character and I doubt they’re throwing it off that badly?
I’ve added way more than 4 mounts while my count as set at 396/400 on the achievement itself for months to years. No mount I gain seems to increase the number, unfortunately.
EDIT: I guess that it must really just be that somehow I can’t use 400 on one character yet, since I just tried my hypothesized highest-usability character and am now at 397/400 after receiving a new mount earlier today. So 3 to go, I guess!
