I get the funny feeling we’ll be getting more remixes before the launch of new expansions in the future. And with Cataclysm Classic in May, Blizzard’s basically caught up to the world revamp that happened in that expansion. There isn’t really a point in releasing Classic versions of anything else. It’s all already in the game. Here’s how I want it to work out:
Spring 2024 - Remix: Pandaria
Summer 2024 - War Within expansion
Spring 2026 - Remix: Draenor
Summer 2026 - Midnight expansion
Spring 2028 - Remix: Legion
Summer 2028 - Last Titan expansion
Spring 2030 - Remix: Battle for Azeroth (possibly)
Summer 2030 - Completely revamped World of Warcraft (call it 2.0)
After the Last Titan expansion I really think Blizzard is going to have to do something major to shake up the game. I’m thinking by then it’d be OK to fill out the rest of the map of Azeroth and start settling on the other side of the planet.
There’s more to classic than just playing the quest content. I’d like to play classic dreanor again so I can sword and board warrior dps again. Although I’d be surprised if they went that far.
Tbh alongside the S4 experimentals I’d like them to work on making the legacy world/legacy expac features(island expo’s, torghast, warfronts, etc) relevant by 2024 standards via reworks.
Also update m+ reward structure to 2024 standards. M+ ksm throughout DF, the Dragonriding expac, was recolors of the same ground mount.
Yeah also just seeing if they chose to implement either half finished or unviable ideas. I don’t know a whole lot about WoD but I’ve heard the things about so much being discussed versus what a actually was implemented. I understand that people have their complaints but this remix idea, if successful, could be a great way to just screw around and add things that never made it into either the chosen xpac, or just the game in general, in a throwaway capacity.
YES, it was the strangest thing, so you do all of Frostfire Ridge, with all of this Iron Wolf stuff, “oh the Iron Wolf is so ominous” and “Oh the mighty thunderlord” combined with this reveal of who he is which made no sense to me at the time, and then when you make it to Talador you come up against one of the most important orcs there is in all of Warcraft history
All these years later and that game continues to disappoint. It had so much potential and people were so excited for it! I’ve always believed that they got scared off by the early whispers of “orc burnout”, after that long stretch of SoO, and decided to pull the plug. Shift focus to Legion. Which would be nonsense. Because orc burnout is nonsense. It was just nay-sayers saying nay.
That’s not likely to happen. I’m not sure why people are expecting from something like this. They aren’t changing engines, they aren’t going to change the art style. The last time they made major changes to the maps it didn’t go over very well.
This. People think that BC and WotLK servers are pointless because “Outland and Northrend are unchanged and you can go back any time.”
Except we can’t really, because classic is just as much about how the classes played as it is about the zones. I can level a mage through Northrend now but it won’t be the mage I played WotLK to experience again.
I don’t think they’ll be remixing other expansions. I think this is just a big test to see how well it does and how much engagement there is, and the intent is to have it as an entire new leveling option that spans the entire game other than the current expansion.
This is such a stupid take. This is clearly a very early experimental version of this kind of thing. The sets are locked to the challenge and the way this event is structured is not suitable to that kind of challenge. Or any challenge at all. It’s meant to be very casual. As future iterations of the event evolve, it is absolutely possible that it will involve bringing back old challenges as well.
You wouldn’t need a new engine or art style to revamp the game. A few assumptions:
I’m going to assume Azeroth “wakes up” at the end of the Last Titan.
No one knows what happens when a world soul (or whatever Azeroth is) wakes up. Does the planet remain unchanged? Does the entire planet turn uninhabitable?
I think Blizzard should have Azeroth “awakening” turn the current continents into ruins. At the very least they become uninhabitable.
This would drive a mass exodus to the other side of the planet (finally).
A few expansions later we can begin exploring the ruins of Old Azeroth again.
That’s a terrible idea, if Azeroth does wake up it will likely be similar to Argus. Though I’m pretty sure the devs had mentioned she’s forever stuck as a planet due to the old gods or something.
