4 Second Crusader Strike

At the risk of being yelled at by everyone.

Can Paladin’s get the 4 sec Crusader strike?

I know what you’re thinking, please bare with me.

Currently Paladin’s fall far below all other melee DPS in the BFD DPS ranking. And while other DPS classes will continue to scale excellently there isn’t much change outside of a handful of talents to increase our holy damage and hammer of wrath added to our DPS toolkit.
During the BlizzCon preview there was a lot of emphasis put on “how OP Paladins are” by content creators and so the class was nerfed pretty significantly immediately upon release of SoD with concerns that they had indeed created something too OP but now after several class nerfs and buffs to all classes all around, they are practically at the bottom of the melee DPS tier list now. A 4 second Crusader strike would also help with the common complaint that paladins are always going OOM as the mana regen from the ability would be more rapid.

I understand there is a concern with paladins being too powerful in PvP but I think these concerns are more focused on paladin’s having a full kit at 25 where other classes don’t even have access to half of their counter-play abilities, which is fair, but also guaranteed to change in later phases when those classes DO get their full kits. That being said, there will always be classes that just fare better than others in PvP, sometimes its just rock, paper, scissors. There’s also a high skill ceiling in PvP, so your individual performance will greatly affect your experience.

I understand that paladin’s also provide a certain degree of utility to a raid with their blessings, bubbles, seals, and so much more but it doesn’t feel great to be the melee DPS who is there cause they makes everyone else feel better instead of being an outright capable DPS themselves. (Like feral provides Wild Strikes/BoW but can still do so much DPS themselves)

I want to hope that in later phases just getting some proper gear will be all the difference we need but I’m not counting on it considering that Ret DPS were consistently near the bottom of DPS rankings throughout Classic Era.

Maybe a 4 second Crusader strike isn’t the correct solution, If there is a better solution please feel free to let me know, if you have more experience playing paladin and want to tell me where I am wrong please let me know, if you think I’m just a moron feel free to tell me that too, I’m just here voicing my opinion.

“Can healing paladins use crusader strike to never go oom by making it only 4 seconds and have 0 use restrictions unlike devastate which has a million caveats for its use”

summed it up for you

Since when do holy pallies care about mana?

since ive mained one since 2004 and often melee with seal and judgement of wisdom with a fast weapon to never go OOM as we plow through the dungeon. adding crusader strike to this method will definitely be useful

I actually think that would be fine, im just also mad that blizz thinks devastate needs all these caveats for its use but crusader strike doesnt.

Sure. Let shamans have 4 second cd Lava Lash, buffed to 400% off hand damage, and also let’s make Lava Burst a 6 second cooldown 1.5 sec cast that buffs flame shock range to 30 yards and duration to 24 seconds.

just rename Alliance to PVE

Paladins are already the most played class in the game. They don’t need anything else to make them stronger, if you wanna play a Paladin, accept the numbers that come with it.

It’s like none of these replies even read the full post. I’d love to reply to each and every one of you but i’d just be repeating information in the original post.

People will claim the post is made to discredit other classes, it is not, there are plenty of problems with all of other classes and I’d love to give proper input on those specific issues but this post is specifically to discuss the current state of paladins and the outlook for paladin’s moving forward. If you would like to discuss the problems with Devastate, or the current state of Shamans I implore you to make a separate post and discuss it there.

I don’t disagree that there are problems with shamans too and they shouldn’t be forced to suffer either.

I don’t disagree that warriors need more variation to their playstyle and that they are lacking crucial aspects to their gameplay.

You’re 4 placements above your Horde equivalent, who is performing worse than every caster except Frost Mage and Shadow Priest.

And they should be, because no one can survive and cheese encounters/mechanics like the Paladin can, and bar the outliers like Warrior and Rogue, Paladins aren’t behind by much.

This is a problem too, and I’m 100% willing to see changes brought to the class. I just haven’t spent enough time playing it myself to identify those problems and make a forum post about it.

and mage and hunter…?
also that’s a lot of outliers that you’re just leaving out of your data, infact that’s like half the classes in the game.

You’re above all 3 specs of mage according to your own link.

And using this same data, the gap between Hunters and Paladins is just as wide as the gap between Paladins and Shamans.

BFD overall boss data is a bad representation of all classes equally since there are bosses that do and do not favor casters as DPS for example Gamoora or Kelris.

Are you are willing to give up some of your defensive spells? And thus, completely changing the class? This is not Wotlk, Cata or retail… You have the best defensive abilities in the game along with providing amazing buffs to your grps. If you rolled paladin to top meters, you rolled the wrong class.

Paladins beat them on the “damage to bosses” chart too.

100% absolutely would consider it a fair trade.

I’m sorry did I not mention there are bosses that take more and less damage from casters earlier?
not to mention casters are lacking alot of spell hit/spell power gear.
you keep trying to make a point about shamans lacking DPS in the raid and I keep telling you i’m not disagreeing with you just that this post is about paladins not shamans lol

I don’t want to top the meters, I just don’t want to see the same trend we had last time in classic era where paladins scale very poorly in later phases even with optimal gear.

Sorry, I misread your prior post.

I think Paladins are in a great spot right now in every department: offense, defense, and support. To a degree I can see where you’re coming from in terms of this game’s scaling and all of us “hybrids” just drastically falling off sometime after level 40.

But that’s Phase 3 at the earliest, almost half a year away. I don’t make too much stink about Shamans in Phase 1 because I know we have one of if not the single highest power spike at 40, yet I’m also aware that’s very likely where we’ll end up peaking.

Neither of us can be sure how the 40-60 scaling will pan out until we start feeling it out ourselves with the runes introduced. So far in Phase 1, the runes appear to have only expedited the road to the endgame scaling problem.

At the very least, I can say Paladins don’t need Crusader Strike to be on an even shorter cooldown than Lava Lash atm.

I’m fine with 6 sec but it could hit for 100% weapon damage or give 3% mana instead.
