We’re already doing a significant amount of overhealing. I’ll take the 4% buff but we’re probably crossing over into overpowered territory. The only reason a couple other classes do better than us is because their healing is auto targeted smart healing and likely comes out in faster intervals as well, although I don’t know exactly how Monks and other classes heal.
Maybe I’m missing something in M+ or something. I think they might end up nerfing of petty hard next season. Mathematically, we’re extremely capable healers right now (at least from a raid perspective) and we’re only not on top because we’re getting sniped by other healers. It feels like they might be buffing up in response to that and that’s a bad move because if the other classes are absent we could probably solo heal a bit too much. Perhaps in M+ we are too weak, I dunno. I’m just rambling.

It’s funny af tho, how the spec after so many buffs throughout season 2 it’s still mid tier healer lmao. Tells you how bad the spec is overall from a design point and how poorly it’s treated by the development and balance team

The problem with the spec is that it is reactive only, nothing proactive and it nearly all throughput casts that root you. Thus in modern design of 3 million swirlieys to dodge, Mobility is the biggest issue.
Rsham is a reactive healer, and still a strong one even with low mobility like Hpriest.
The problem at the end of the day is always the same. Utility.
Throughput alone is not enough for M+ unless you do like absurd amounts of healing which is not the case for Hpriest rn.
To be fair, Mind Soothe/PI/Mass Dispel (and insight dispel) is great utility for high key.
I still wish we had interrupt or CC options for the low to mid level keys. Also we could really use a better external or some kind of mitigation. Every once in a while there’s strong Mind control options (right now, in workshop you can MC a protector through the second boss and have it for the double tanks, for example).
But… priest utility overall is not bad. It’s why it’s always in the meta, whether it’s shadow or Disc. The ISSUE is that we have terrible pug utility. It makes mid level keys awful, but organized groups priest is great.
I might reroll Resto Druid, not sure yet. The mobility is the worst thing about the spec by far.
Yes they are great, but they are not holy unique.
So Holy just depends on giga healings o giga dmg to be desirable.
Rest of the healers have some sort of uniqueness that even if not meta they are like okay as an option.

I’ve been running the wrong/bad builds in M+ and raid this entire time, so my experience has been tarnished.
I ran the correct build in M+ last night and was like okay, yeah, this is how it should be. I barely even had to press Premonition, let alone Apotheosis, group was getting hit by hooks on the Abom boss too.
Capslockfury was correct about Lightweaver, I was way wrong.
In raid, my build was close, but I was missing PoH. I had the PoM portion though. So I was playing Season 1 Holy basically, getting gapped by the other heals even though we’re similar ilvl.
I gotta stop trying to run my snowflake builds, this is the second time I’ve done this.
Sure, I kinda agree with this - every single spec in the game suffers from this, for the most part though. It’s part of the class utility trees being what they are. It becomes a math problem as far as tuning is concerned. Tiers where disc has sucked (everything pre-TWW S1 lol) shadow or holy took over, and it’s most often shadow. Though we didn’t have it much better in the BfA days either, tbh.
Snowflake builds can still work and be fun! Especially if you’re not trying to be hyper competitive. I still play a lasting words build often. Just was sharing my experience back then because I tried to make the rely SPECIFICALLY on renew work in 12s/13s. It’s still OK raw HPS. Just you definitely can’t fully rely on it.
