4 Bountiful delves = x4 603 cloaks?

People like you are the reason that Spotify and Apple music “shuffle” isn’t actually random. In real randomness, there’s a chance, albeit a small one, to get the same song or the same artist multiple times in a row. Random is random. But to humans, that doesn’t feel random. So they programmed their “shuffle” mode to dismiss a song if it had come up too recently, and same with an artist. The chance of hearing Taylor Swift three times in a row is drastically lowered.

Because random is random. And true random sometimes means four cloak drops in a row.

Whatever, copium man. I’ve seen way more posts about dupe items than I have your half x half x half x half x half x half x nerd equation lmao… Read the room.

I haven’t seen you do the coin flip test, so your opinion is irrelevant.

I might have said it wrong, let me correct it (not going to edit my post so) by that I left out one word “don’t have gear” blame this tiny iPhone in my big old hands for auto correct lol…and to

You must be trolling. You cant believe your anecdote about flipping a coin somehow trumps professionals who have literally programmed “random seeming” behavior because true randomness doesn’t feel random to their consumers.

My theory is the RNG is made intentionally bad so that solo players have to farm Delves throughout the entire season. The best way for Blizzard to keep players engaged throughout an expansion is to always skew the odds against their favor.

You’re so lost you’re proving my point for me, thanks.

They rely so hard on RNG that dumb stuff like this happens. I got the opposite, 4 pieces, but yeah, total RNG.

I wish it was currency that you could pick the piece you wanted to buy. it would feel earned, and SO MUCH better than RNG. I’ve hated that they go in the RNG direction over letting us earn our gear.

I got a ranged-only (hunter agi trinket) on my agi melee-only class.

I got 6 trinkets on my Druid, but my ret pally got a different slot item every time so far.

RNG giveth, RNG taketh away.

I seriously didn’t play my monk last tier because of this. I INTENDED to gear him up with champion gear slowly and passively while I played my main. After the 5th cloak I was done.

I think Blizzard just adds all the stat combinations of cloaks and calls it done, not realizing that over saturates the cloak reward chance. Rings are the same issue… and why I have 2 champion rings. At least I’m not on my 3rd…

I ran 3 last night, bracers, cloak, and ring. Though i’ve heard delves are cloak heavy, maybe I’m just using all my luck right now so I won’t have any during raid nights

I got two 584 trinkets from weekly loot boxes on my 5th alt yesterday. Irritated me as my two mains are rolling in worse.

Reminds me of the reward boxes in DF, many times in a week they would all give gear for the same slot and sometimes at least one would drop a green base version 100+ ilevels below the season minimum.

Ticket after ticket with the standard ‘known issue / report as bug’ useless reply and never fixed as the last week of S4, I still got green leveling garbage from the Valdrakken weekly.

Anyways, I wouldn’t be shocked to find Blizzard coded it specifically to make gearing through delves more time-consuming by dropping a bunch of useless dupes, but I also wouldn’t be shocked that it is just buggy and of terrible quality - and that they just don’t care and consider it good enough such that no changes will be made.

In response to the request for math, let’s make some assumptions:

You’re playing a character with 13 item slots and 4 rolls. For simplicity, we’ll assume an equal distribution of loot (though it’s likely not, since we don’t have the exact loot table—too lazy to check).

The calculation for the possible outcomes:

13×13×13×13=28,561

This gives a 1 in 28,561 chance for any specific combination of items.

To express this as a percentage:

Percentage ≈ 1/28561×100 = 0.0035%

So, the chance of getting a specific combination of items is approximately 0.0035%.

However, it’s clear that certain items (like cloaks, bracers, and necks) are being obtained more frequently than others. This suggests that either these items are weighted differently or there are simply more items available for those slots compared to others (we do know there is more than one cloak available for example.)

Its been clear for years however that items are weighted and not just random rolls.

Wait til you vault is also all cloaks.

You know, the issue is less about randomness and more about how the loot tables are seeded. No one talks about randomly getting head or chest or shoulder or leg drops. It’s obviously over seeded to emphasize back and bracer and finger slots, it always has been. This is why those turn up more.

Unless Blizz can show us code proving otherwise, I’ve believed for a long time that the roll table is imbalanced emphasizing those slots far more. Probably at least 5 to one with cloaks probably even higher.

It’s the cheap throwaway loot option.

Yeah, I think what happens is that you get something like 4 armor types and 4 each of necks, cloaks and rings. Because you can only use on armor type the vast majority of those are removed and you are left with a highly weighted roll in favor of cloaks, necks and rings.

Super unlucky.

My priest got chest from world boss, then first t8 delve was a Mainhand 603, then 2nd delve was Offhand 603 and a map, third delve was then a 610 cloak and 603 ring.

I think I am the polar opposite end of luck spectrum lol…

A lot of them are garbage this time around
