Just make it the second support class that uses debuffs to direct a portion of mob damage to the DH, while also using dot debuffs to direct a portion of the damage they’re dealt as healing.
here’s my concept for a new dh spec okay. in human form you try to build demonic rage by casting fel corruption, hand of illidan, and shadow bite. fel corruption is a dot. hand of illidan is an AoE dot. it has 2 charges. it stacks. you’re supposed to save up the charges so you can refresh it twice before it falls off, to max your demonic rage generation. when you turn into a demon, fel corruption is replaced with condemnation (a different dot that has a very long tick timer and deals high damage), shadow bite is replaced with touch of chaos, and hand of illidan is replaced with chaos wave. your demonic rage bar is really big so you can always pool rage and line up your burst with your UVLS proc or whatever.
I feel like a great dh heal spec would be melee based like pally, and still involve soul fragments, but instead of absorbing them, we send them to allies that need health instead. With some direct heals too ofc
DH is not getting a third spec. Its time has passed. There’s no plot-related reason for it like evokers have with Augmentation. And it wouldn’t be ranged because they were never intended to be ranged, so it would be bolting a completely new archetype onto them, much like when people demand a melee evoker spec.
In also recall that warlocks had a support ability in cataclysm… That stacked so you could tos a bunch of them on one player to make them OP… Removed.
Only support that have survived is Heroism/Bloodlust and combat resses.
I’ve been wanting a new physical ranged DPS for a while.
I would rather see a spec more focused around throwing Javelins and glaives and such though rather than empowered bow magic.
Not quite true.
Classic was full of them. And if you look at certain metas especially in PVP, many specs often play a supportive position.
It’s just never been officially labelled a Support spec.
I don’t see Augmentation staying support-centric in 11.0
Problem with adding a ranged spec to a melee class is you just end up becoming Feral / Survival where you’re basically banned from PVE content unless they’re gamebreakingly overpowered.
Shaman has a good balance. It doesn’t necessarily have to play out like SV Hunter.
Plus DH only has 1 DPS spec anyways. The other spec is a Tank, which is usually a taken position if you’re doing organized raiding.
If you’re not willing to re-roll or even re-spec you get shunned regardless.
It’s good for DH, just not necessarily good for Havoc.
