3D accelerator card with dual-TMU support

Hey everyone!
I installed Wow classic in my old macbook that I use to study but when I try to log in, it shows the following error message:

Your 3D accelerator card is not supported by World of Warcraft. Please install a 3D accelerator card with dual-TMU support.

Is there anything I could do to fix this or that means my macbook does not support classic because it is too old?

My specs are:
MacBook Air Late 2010
1,86 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 1067 MHz ddr3
Nvidia Geforce 320M 256mb

Thank you!

Hey there,

I’d be happy to help go over the cause for this error. Going over the system details it does look like the GPU is unsupported. This may be due to the device not being compatible with Metal API which Apple OS is moving to using as a primary API for graphics. Many of our games are only being updated for Metal due to these changes.

I hope the information helps. If there’s anything else you might need just let us know.

I’m encounter the same problem, except my Mac is:
17 inch Mid 2010 Core i7 2.8Ghz 16GB RAM 1TB SSD Geforce GT 330M 512GB.
Classic used to work on this computer. There’s a reasonable expectation that classic would work again.

The current “Classic” uses the same updated under the hood tech that the retail client uses. That’s why the blades of grass swinging in Classic happens - it’s using modern tech even though it’s using old game files.

The nVidia 300 series is from nVidia’s Tesla architecture and is not supported by Metal. As WoW no longer uses OpenGL and uses Metal exclusively in OS X, you need a more recent machine on the OS X side. You might get by at minimum settings on the Windows side using that platform’s WoW/Classic client(s), but outside of that I’m afraid you need to update to a newer Mac.

Does anyone know if Bootcamp is a workaround? Just ran into this issue this morning and I don’t want to go through the hassle of partitioning my hard drive and installing windows unless it for sure works. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!

Apparently boot camp does work. You can try this! I’m going to as well!

“Apparently boot camp does work. You can try this! I’m going to as well!” I know your comment was over a year ago, bit did this work? I’m hoping to play Classic on an old mac OS.
Thanks!

Sorry I don’t know! I wasn’t able to get boot camp going and I used part of my stimulus check to buy a decent $550 gaming PC. Sorry!

Hey Blizz here we are in 2023 and this is happening again. I was just running the Classic Wotlk. I am getting the same message as 2019 posts.
I lost connection with one account and then the next stopped working…
Downloaded the Beta version of Launcher and this error all of a sudden popped up…
Not sure how to explain this except that I was not having any issues 5 minutes ago.

update… Switched back over from the beta version to standard Launcher no more issues
Thank
