Its more about respecting peoples time.
Most wow players take joy in gemming and decking out their character (I wonder what rpg means). Yes its 1% stats and yet I do it. I just wished bkizzard cared. If they did they would have removed gems from all crafted items with pvp ilvls
Could’ve had sockets hour one of the season. Anybody who had zero honor and gold has like a million other things to worry about than 0.8% in stats when just fixing how they press buttons would be equiv to like 25% more stats.
Also earning gold for pvping owns.

Play the game for 2 hours a day you’ll have the gem slots in a few weeks, the gain is pretty minuscule…

The truth is without the gem socket OCD side quest pvpers don’t have anything else to do but wait for their solo shuffle que in dornogal. It has to take a long time or people wont have anything to work on

A couple more sockets won’t help you kill the non-fc healer. 
Because u want gem slots???
I’m not paying 60k for a 1% damage increase.
That point is only further exposing how flawed the current system is.

Also wow players have this warped perception of thinking they need full bis before they play a single game
Then play because you can buy the sockets with honor
My alt dk was like 3600 mmr last seas with 1-2 sockets so it’s really something you can ignore if you don’t feel like it

It’s funny cause it’s not even close to 1% increase either
That’s what I’ve been doing, but no one can convince me that 12500 honor for a single socket is a good system.
Make it 5000 honor and leave bloodstones for crafting and its fine.

It should be 100k per socket. 
Seasons are like 7 months, it’s okay to not be full bis in 3 hours.

It’s nice that they are there, somewhere to dump excess Honor. Used to have to sell old shields for 12% or so Honor to Gold conversion rate. This is better.
And if one is super hard chargin’ they can get the extra 1% and feel they tried real hard. But that 1% matters…like, what, 1% of the time. The rest of the time it’s me pressing the wrong button while in the bad position.
I tend to agree with Kennie on this as well. The gear progression is what keeps people playing (and me making/restoring alts)…
You have the whole season for that.
Gems are for min-maxing and won’t make or break you, just a long term goal to aspire to.
You are not intended to be fully gemmed by week 2
