So I am collecting 3/3 of each pet and my question is should I only keep rares or does it really matter?
If your goal is pet pvp yes it matters greatly. If your just collecting as a completionist it doesnât. You can upgrade them with stones or and pay attention to breeds unless itâs just for collecting.
I have 3 of some special pets that are nice for doing the pet dungeons and some world quests. Ikky comes to mind.
Arenât some of the collect x pets quests based on x âuniqueâ pets? Which means if you did 3 of each pet youâd run out of slots before getting the collect x achieveâŚ
Be warned, youâll run out of slots if you get 3 of everything. At the moment I believe the limit is 2000 pets and thereâs well over 1000 in game.
The main reason I level every pet I get is for the easy player XP; the main reason I rarify at least one of every pet is to boost my score on warcraftpets.com
Without those I would probably only bother to level/rarify the pets needed for actual battles.
Question for you: how do you plan to fit 4200+ pets into 2000 slots?
All I can imagine is your pet journal becoming so overtuffed that its busting at the seams and thereâs just the sound of tortured squeaks of pets who canât move from overcrowding. How cruel.
Hmm ⌠cage all cageable pets? How many named wild pets are in the game now?
1417 Pets currently. 744 of them are Cageable, 673 arenât.
Even if you factor in the pets that you can only have 1 of, and the ones that were only available on servers we canât access, no way to have 3 of all the rest.
I thought the same, but upon reflection, Iâm not so sure.
You may know beyond all doubt, But I havenât seen the math yet, so please donât get mad.
666 @ 3 per = 1998. What we have is 673 @ 3 per = 2019, nineteen too many.
So, it looks like we are actually within striking distance.
Are there 13 or more uncageable pets in the âone ofâ category?
Looking at this I realize I still havenât seen the math, lol.
Hmmm. Yes, actually, most of the âpromotionalâ pets (the ones you get from blizzcon, or from the collectorâs edition of various Blizzard games) are only-one-in-the-journal types, and I just counted at least 10 (unfortunately I donât see a way at warcraftpets.com
to filter on that attribute). So in theory I guess you could have 2232 caged pets stashed somewhere (lots of bank alts!), 663ish * 3 + 10 (aka 1999) in the journal. Not even counting the fact that some are unobtainable at this point (Spirit of Competition).
Good luck!
Youâre absolutely right that it would be doable assuming you didnât need to have one of each cageable pet in your journal. Iâd taken for granted that a person would, otherwise your count of unique pets wouldnât show anywhere, including the Armory.
Before Legion, I pretty much HAD three of every pet if I could win the pet in a pet battle. Many pets were beyond my reach, but not wild pets, so I would catch 3, rationalizing the different breeds might be of critical importance.
Well, just because it was a rationalization doesnât mean it wasnât effective, pet breeds ARE important. Having a high-health, a speedy, and a powerful example of any particular pet is not a bad thing. Playing them is an opportunity to learn if an optimum breed exists, or does the best breed vary, according to the situation. Also to be learned, is what breeds to avoid, such as a health/health rabbit or a speed/speed snail.
Still though, if I could have three of every wild and non-unique pet without having to bank most or all of my cageable pets, I would do so, as âthey might come in handyâ, LoL
Having three of all wild and non-unique battle pets would make a great Achievement, it could be called, âYou know you can pills for that nowadaysâ or âItâs not OCD, Iâm populating an Ark!â ⌠idanoâŚ
