Its cool they are adding 32 mounts but why do these have to be FOMO?
Nobody likes FOMO mounts in the game, Longboi says hi. Looks like from wowhead all these mounts require you to farm currency. Which means getting these will be a long grind.
Why not keep the MoP side game available forever so people can do this at their own pace?
So before you even know how much effort is involved youâve already decided itâs too much, and decided to grumble about it? That seems like a very miserable approach to a game.
Because clearly Blizzard wanted to create a fun little game mode distraction with rewards so that you and others can play along and enjoy yourself. If you donât wanna do it, or donât enjoy the gameplay itâs ok to not do it. Or to not do it all, even. Realistically this stuff will be back another time, or available in another way. They quite literally are doing that with MoP Remix, giving players an alternate way to earn things lol.
Also bronze is real easy to get. If you donât have time though that sucks, but it is what it is.
They are time-limited because the event/game mode they can be earned in is a time-limited event/game mode.
Because it is an experiment, not a permanent feature.
Blizzard has been very upfront about this.
Besides, theyâre all ugly (personally, I am quite disappointed over the phoenix). And there are already hundreds of mounts in the game for players to farm if they please. Having or not having these particular mounts is not going to make a difference in the game or a playerâs life in the long run.
FOMO is a player problem. If someone is actually scared or compelled to play because they canât bring themselves to not get shiny video game pixels then they need to get help or reevaluate what has become an unhealthy dependence on the game.
Then the only thing they can do is reassure players or just keep cycling content over the years that come back so players can look forward to earning things they missed - or getting newer things.
I still personally believe they should actually dump all the cosmetics into a metaphorical bin that people can earn in alternate ways (like timewarped badges or something). Retail players who donât wanna do these modes should have a way to earn them too later on. I donât see why not anyways, it gets retail players to stick around and get things they want lol.
The difference between a physical limited edition is still that I get it from eBay years later. My siblings and I pulled together for our oldest one a 2008 Turtles figure set for his birthday, which goes for $500-800 these days and was only produced 2500 times, before it got bootlegged.
You cannot do this in WoW. The online shop does not offer enough to justify FOMO.
This is the way to go but they have not announced something like this, which is also problematic.
Honest question - are you genuinely AFRAID of missing out? Does it scare you to not have items others have? Because that is the definition of FOMO.
Itâs not a desire to have something and being annoyed that you hate to work for it. Itâs FEAR, genuine FEAR of missing out. Does it keep you awake at night? Can you not sleep because you are AFRAID of not getting this item? Of not experiencing the same thing as everyone else?
If your answer is no, then itâs not FOMO. Period.
No and No. But the pressure to do the content in a limited time frame can be awful and this has to go away. I do skip events I do not care about (the recent Hearthstone, Noblegarden).
But not acquiring certain items puts the player into a disadvantage in terms of character fantasies and lore representation of the characters, which limits the possible pool of transmogging to a greater extend.
