$315 For One Content Update Over 17 Months

Here’s your unsub feedback

8.3 came out January 2020.

SL - 9.0 on 10/2020, SL zones opened 11/2020.

We’re mid-6/2021. Since 8.3’s release on January 2020, we’ve received a whopping 1 update to content.

And the next content update has no date and is just “you wanted more maw right?”, a new dungeon that will be quickly obsoleted by the same dungeons, and a raid that will be nearly-mandatory at this rate.

“but pannnnndemmiccc!!!” Don’t care, other companies seemed to have coped just fine and continued to churn out content.

Blizzard’s communication and lack of any sort of roadmap completely sucks and is anti-consumer. Customer service is beneath the level of cable companies.

Developer arrogance and disdain for the playerbase - “They hate tyrannical? Make it mandatory!” “They hate the maw? Make them do more maw!” “They hate systems upon systems? Let’s add on another system!” Either completely tonedeaf or arrogant, one or the other.

“Let’s make stuff time-limited and remove content from the game! That’s exciting!”

Here let me remove something too:

**Your subscription for World of Warcraft® Subscription - 6 Months has been canceled. You’ll no longer be charged, though you can still play until your current subscription expires on Aug 06 2021 01:51 PM (PST). **

Can’t come soon enough - Blizzard you need to get off your high horse and actually care about your playerbase. I don’t even care about all the money I spent on the cash shop stuff at this point. I won’t be back either for any new content unless there’s overwhelming positive feedback - fool me once shame on you, fool me twice time to leave.

they’ll still defend it

you seem confused. you’re paying for access to the game, not for the content update.

Thanks for sharing.

Canceling your sub because you are unhappy with the game has always been allowed…and often encouraged on these forums

If I didn’t like the game I’d leave too. I surely wouldn’t spend my days bashing a game I supposedly don’t play on a forum.

You’re doing the right thing. If you don’t feel that your money is well spent then spend your money, time, and effort somewhere else.

Time limited things are good. You don’t deserve everything everyone else has all the time.

Players always want the easy way out.

See above.

If they never added new systems players would be crying about how nothing has changed over almost 20 years.

The constant rage from players and “content creators” isn’t worth it.

Here in the adult world covid played hell on many companies. Just because someone elses company didn’t hurt doesn’t mean the next didn’t.

That has to be the worst take of all time as to why there is a subscription. If you’re not paying for the content then you’re literally paying for a chat room.

That’s not a “take”, that’s literally what your sub fee is for.

You pay for the content when you buy the game…you pay for access to the servers with your sub.

For example, if you didn’t buy Shadow Lands you can still play WoW you just don’t have access to the new content…because you didn’t buy it

This is all rather dishonest from several of you. A WoW user has an expectation that there will be new content in patches, its been a part of the game since the beginning. Your sub fee DOES help pay for the development of those patches. Many people expect to get those patches in a reasonable time frame. You have every right to be upset you aren’t getting the new content.

And I think most people would agree with that, but covid is a reasonable excuse. I know my business was impacted by it. Where Blizzard constantly screws up is that they don’t communicate this stuff. There really is no excuse for that.

Can’t ignore you, because you hide behind a wall.

Good news you will be gone soon. My sub runs out less that 10 days, but still play free free free.

the forum is its own game to some

always remember also, this is where you go for feedback, which kinda makes these people vultures

notice the attempts at jokes

And People said WoD had no Content. Shadowlands takes that crown.

Sir! Sir! This is not a airport, you do not need to announce your departure.

Yeah, you’ll be resubbing the second you see the epic Lightspawn mount you’ll get for the 6 month sub in August.

It’s actually hilarious to me that people believe this.

You can always cancel your subscription if you’re not getting value for it. Then if they add content that you want to play, renew it in a few clicks. This is why a lot of people pay month to month.

For example, my spouse just renewed their subscription for the first time since just after 8.3 was released.

This is the thing that I’m coming to believe is Blizzard’s greatest sin. SO much of the current upsetment in the playerbase could be placated if they just…talked.

Re: Conduit Energy:
“Conduit energy was put in place to address a behavior we’ve seen over and over again, where players seeking the maximum possible advantage will hearth out before every boss and change their talents, their enchants, their reforges, etc. And while it’s great that players are so engaged with the content, this behavior has a habit of spreading throughout the playerbase if left unchecked. This is why we created conduit energy. We’re considering making conduit/soul bind setups tied to your spec so that each spec can have its own setup, but that’s not going to be ready for 9.1”.

Re: Tyrannical:
“Fortified and Tyrannical were put into the game so that, when grinding your mythic+ keys, you’d get a reasonably varied experience. Some weeks you’d blitz through the trash and then encounter a really hard boss, and others you’d have to really think about the trash carefully while bosses would be a break. But, as many have seen, Tyrannical weeks have really become a ‘do 1 key for the vault and then stop’ week, which is bad both for the players and, frankly, our resource allocation. Why balance a thing if no one’s going to do it? We don’t yet know how we’re going to fix this imbalance long term, likely a new expansion level fix, but in the short term, we made the change to KSM so that players wouldn’t have dead weeks half of the time. We’d love to hear player feedback about what specifically makes Tyrannical undesirable.”

Re: Anima:
“We’ve made features like anima in the past such as Artifact Power and Azerite which players would collect throughout the course of an expansion. But, for those past systems, we’d update the rewards with each patch, creating a kind of checkpoint system; you’d grind enough AP to max out your artifact weapon in 7.0, then start collecting again in 7.1 when the weapon was expanded, for example. With Shadowlands, we’ve changed our approach to this. While we may end up adding more rewards in the future, the intent is that the present anima rewards be things that you work for for the entire expansion, not just a single patch. This is an experiment on our end, to see how players respond to a grind that is made clear from the start, but that you can pursue with as much fervor as you do (or don’t) want. If player feedback continues to be negative moving forward, we’ll consider increasing the rate at which anima can be acquired.”

Like, imagine if these posts appeared on the forum with blue text. Even if they’re just possibly empty promises, just having to acknowledged, even a moment, does a world of good for good will. And it feels like the sorts of things Blue Posts would be back in TBC/Wrath.

I wish they hadn’t stopped.
