3060ti OK for WoW or go for 3080ti?

3060 ti is fine. WoW plays great on a 1060 or 2060, too.

Is 3060ti “ok” for WoW? Ummmm…I’m maxing out everything on a 1660Ti (1080p - anything more is really a waste for WoW)…yes 3060ti is more than ok.

What is the target resolution? I got a 3080 and a 2160p 60 hz screen.

Without raytracing on it’s pretty much 2160p 100+ fps everywhere. Typically around 120 fps.

With raytracing I got almost every area 2160p 60+ fps except in ardenweald where it’s dipping a bit below 60.

Though, I think WoW raytracing is just not worth it. I hardly ever noticed its effect. While in game like control. I didn’t expect I would notice the raytracing effect. But I pretty surprised I could tell these effect in play. So, no need to stress raytracing if you’re only playing WoW.

Seems like every graphics card almost everywhere is totally sold out.

If you don’t have a GPU now you are pretty much SOL until things improve.

Only one hit I got on a decent GPU was a PNY 1660 Super ITX card for $320.

Everything else is either marked up to the moon (I’m talking $600 5600xt) or just gone.

Yep…you are screwed right now. Right around late novemberish you could still get a 5700xt or so for retail…but now? Not a chance. I am doing more than ok with my 1660Ti and can wait for this to blow over.

I just got a kick out of someone asking if a 3060Ti would be ok for WoW…its super over kill actually.

Was playing sl on 970gtx. Upgraded to to 1660ti cause horizon. Noticed 0 improvement in wow to naked eye. Maybe raids are smoother idk cause i still hit 60fps on high settings

Im sure 3080 is way over kill unless your a 4k gamer. This engine is from 2004 man…i was playing on mac clam shell when it came out…

Truth is it can still run on a toaster if you are willing to turn things down.

I’m playing on an AMD Phenom II x 4 955, R9 380, 8 gigs of RAM, and 2X 500 HDD’s. I can keep about 40-50fps on 5 settings as long as I’m not in a major city and then it gets a bit rough. Loading times are rough though. It won’t make it much longer though simply because they aren’t going to keep coding to work with the old CPU language much longer ( I have a ! when I log in )

Glad my new PC comes in tomorrow though.

Your old one you mentioned above can be used for a decent Linux box if you have any interest in that.

I’ve done that in the past whenever I upgraded hardware.

Oh I’ll do something with it. Heck if nothing else I’ll just shove it in the living room and let the niece and nephew " learn " on it.
