Hi All,
I seem to be having an issue where my FPS will lock at “30.” And the gameplay will suffer. I’ve turned off any FPS locking in the advanced graphic settings but it’s still happens. If I log out and re-log back in, it seems to head back to 60 or better, which is what I’m use to. I’m on an Alienware M15 laptop with a pretty powerful graphics card and processor. So I’m not sure why this is happening.
I’ve updated my driver and deleted the WTF/Interface folders. Any thoughts on what might be happening here?
Hey there,
Lets go ahead and grab a DxDiag so we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
- Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the DXDiag. It’ll look like this:
DXDiag goes here
If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).
Ok! I hope that I’m doing this right. The copy and paste ended up being too long so I used Pastebin. Here is the filow:

Hey there Rilely,
Thank you for creating and posting that DxDiag file. The Windows Error Reports show frequent errors with the Alienware Command Center software, and so you may be experiencing a conflict created by the settings within this program. To rule this out as well as any other potential third-party program conflicting with the game, try disabling all startup items with the steps below. Before trying the steps below, please close unnecessary programs and restart your computer:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager.
- Click More Details in the bottom-left.
- Select the Startup tab.
- Right-click on each item listed and select Disable. Make sure all are “Disabled”.
- Restart the computer.
If the issue is resolved after restarting your system, you can enable each startup application one at a time to determine which one is causing the problem. You will need to restart between each application you enable.
Note: To re-enable startup applications, follow steps 1-4 and select Enable.
If the FPS lock persists after restart and testing the game with no other programs running, try resetting your video driver settings, and then reset the in-game settings to resolve many conflicts isolated to specific configurations on your system.
If still having problems, since you are playing on a laptop, please ensure that your laptop is plugged into a power outlet as running off the battery alone may cause this behavior. You will also want to check your Power Management Settings and ensure the setting is set to full power or high performance while playing games.
Hopefully these steps get you fixed up. Let us know how it goes!
