3 steps to make DH feel great in The War Within

  1. Add talent that functions as the Dragonflight Season 3 / 4 tierset - Blade Dance procs a Throw glaive

By far the most “feel good” tierset DH has had in a long time, eliminating the need to have a dead global (Throw Glaive)

  1. Rework Aldratchi completely - don’t make it about Throw glaive. Throw glaive is not a fun global and is not a good damage global either. Neither is picking up RNG soul fragments and playing easter egg collector simulator.

Current version of Aldratchi is unplayable without 3rd party Weakauras to track multiple things

  1. Fix talent bugs

Eye Beam isn’t getting buffed by Isolated Prey
Sigil of Flame (Sigil of Doom) isn’t usable during Metamorphosis if “Precise Sigils” talent is specced

Minor bonus changes could include

  • Essence Break CD reduced by Cycle of Hatred in addition to the current spells

  • Glaive Tempest doing more damage and moving towards target similar to the Fury Warrior spell with the whirling blades on the ground

  • Mortal Dance removed as a talent and added as passive to Blade Dance

I love pressing Throw Glaive in AoE (M+) and it’s certainly not a dead global depending on your build. I’ve found people not realizing all the interactions with Throw Glaive is where you’ll notice the discrepancies in DPS.

While the numbers are good-ish. Pressing Throw Glaive does not feel iconically good like pressing Eye Beam. Even Immolation Aura feels better simply due to the visual.

There hasn’t been a competitive throw glaive build in m+ since S1 Dragonflight tho

Why does every ability have to look like fireworks?? That’s not a valid reason to remove something from a rotation.

Was not saying that it needs to look like fireworks. I was trying to point out that iconic abilities should be the main “feel good” damage dealing abilities.

Throwing a Glaive……in melee feels odd. The only time I found it “good” was when it was automatic to our tier set.

If there was an ability that would launch a DH in the air and throw glaives and summon fel elementals…. That sounds more fun. Assuming, of course, it gets executed properly (looking at Scalecommanders flying by).

The current incarnation of forcing players to press that extra button to Throw Glaive still feels awkward to me.

I looked at both of your loadouts that have hero talents, so will consider those current, and you have Burning Wounds talent in both. If you’re not using Throw Glaive in AoE for that you’re doing it wrong.

Throw Glaive doesn’t have to be the primary source of damage to like pressing it. Knowing it buffs other abilities can make it fun too.

And Throw Glaive (Reavers Glaive) is a competitive Throw Glaive build this expansion. None of your loadouts have Aldrachi Reaver, but give it a go.

Surely if reavers glaive is a competitive throw glaive build you take furious throws which throws two glaives right? Oh wait no build runs that because you don’t use throw glaive in AoE, only to reavers glaive

Is Throw Glaive - same keypress - and it does tons of damage.

When you’ve had something as smooth and nice as the last season’s tierset, it’s a very annoying transition.

Similar to Hunters where Serpent Sting was its own keybind, and then became a passive to using things like Aimed Shot.

Following this logic, yes, maybe somebody would enjoy a full “Serpent sting” oriented build. But if there’s a version where it’s baked into another, more-important spell, that is overall a better feeling.

Just like how Templar’s Verdict procs a Divine Storm.

Current Aldratchi build:

  • Takes too much ramp up time
  • Requires tracking of Soul Fragments = weakauras / addons
  • Requires visual tracking of souls
  • You’ve completed all of the above - nothing too huge happens.

Requires zero ramp up as you can first Reavers Glaive from The Hunt immediately and the rotation goes from there. It’s a different play style so abilities used differently but it’s not a ramp spec.

This is the only problem with AR, and I gave feedback in Blizz AR thread. The RNG of it to align with CDs is the big issue.

I get it man, I’m a lazy gamer too, so I migrate to easy classes where everything is passive and plays nicely. And Demon Hunter has added way more to the rotation than that BFA masterpiece where you could outplay every other class with 3 buttons, but I still feel like Throw Glaive is great to control myself. Especially when they make builds around it, such as new AR hero talents - they just need to fix the orb RNG stuff.

DH needs a second DPS spec and its about time to open it up to other races.

Throw glaive to me always seemed like a global to help you collect mobs before a pull if your tank, just like a warriors throw weapon. You can use it for snare ability and to keep people in combat in arena and stuff but other than that I never really saw the appeal of a demon hunter fantasy that involved throwing your glaives at a mob standing right in front you. lol

Yes.

And Throw Glaive Procs Soulscar.

Which is a universal 100% must take talent compared to Relentless Onslaught.

Which means you’re keeping a bleed DoT up by using Throw Glaive as a dead global.

Regardless if your target is in your face or far away.

Therefore the automatic proc from Blade Dance returning as a talent would greatly help out this issue.

It would also further make Aldratchi easier to play as you will get to pop your Enhanced Throw glaive automatically with blade dance, saving a GCD.

This all leans into making the spec fluid and nice to play.

Dead globals, useless talents, bad talent pathing, easter egg hunting for fragments.

Those are not fluid mechanics.

Neither is resetting your eye beam and everything else with cycle of hatred, but not resetting Essence Break, when Essence Break is supposed to be used after Eye beam. Therefore you have to wait bonus seconds even though you resetted one but didn’t reset the other?

Omg imagine a world where Eye beam reset Essence break.

Uncap all AoE. Not just for us, but for all classes.
