I figured I would dust off my old paladin and try to gear it up to do some mythic+ and pvp. I did a +3 last week and got my conq cap just so I would get 2 chests with some 445 gear this week, which would be a nice boost up from the 425 I picked up from timewalking. Log in and loot both my chests and kill the world boss to get 2 azerite helms which are both worse than the ONLY piece of gear I have thats over 445 which is my helm. I then get a nice pair of 445 bracers which are a 5 ilvl boost from my current ones but have a useless corruption so those are also worse.
Then I logged off.
Shouldn’t Tuesday be exciting? I feel like this game is almost taunting me and daring me to quit.
If you do quit, can I have your gold?
But yeah, the RNG systems work absolutely brilliantly turning people off from the game.
One week of bad loot luck, to be fair. I understand the people who have spent the last month getting bad chests, but expecting to just get good loot from doing one week worth of content (you said Timewalking, which is fairly limited for loot, as well as Conquest Capping and a M+) is a little silly.
I spent 4 months in 8.2 getting cloaks from my M+ chest. RNG is going to suck every once in a while, and it does suck. But quitting after a week just feels like an overreaction to me.
You do you, though.

You can cleanse the bracers and use them, I have several characters that I’ve had to remove the corruption because the bonus did not outweigh the disadvantages. RNG is RNG though, it’s been a part of WoW since vanilla.
The reason it feels different is because in previous expansions you only had a handful of options to acquire gear. Now there are at least a dozen different methods you can use; if you do all those then you’re going to feel burnt out and frustrated.
Just do the content you want and enjoy the game as best you can.

Lol, that’s a false equivalence.
There wasn’t 37 variants of Ashkhandi, there was only 1. If you got it, you got it. Not “Oh, I got it, but it’s not max ilv” “Oh, I got it, but it doesn’t have a socket” “Oh, I got it, but it doesn’t have the right corruption effect” Oh, I got it, but it isn’t the right corruption level"
I was referring to the fact that loot drops have always been random themselves, not the random nature of gear itself found in later expansions. My apologies for not being clear enough.

4 months of cloaks shouldn’t happen either. How can you even defend a game that lets that happen?
I didnt say I was quitting, I was just trying to get across how this game just seems to laugh in your face and doesnt care. I’ve been playing this game since vanilla, I’m not going to quit forever, but I could totally let my sub lapse until the game is in a better state.
Just the simple fact that blizz talks about reducing RNG and giving players more choice and then still seeing this garbage is just frustrating. How hard would it be to have the chest drop 3 items and let you choose one? Then you can at least get something useful. I just dont know if I have the patience to play the loot pinata each week hoping to get something good.
