Why is there less population? Why are there no pvpers? Why is there no community when BY THE NUMBERS the population is roughly equal across the entire pool of players?

It takes a team to win. Alliance did not suck at battlegrounds back in the day. No reason they should suck now, other than crap attitudes.

you have no hard data, everyone knows that alliance was by far the dominant pve faction in classic and several people kept playing that side for tbc, and since they are all 70 and logging their raids, they are most likely raid logging as well

Sure, by the data available, if Alliance pvp at the same rate as horde things would be near balanced in terms of pop.
Only Blizz knows, but what we DO know, is Alliance pvp dramatically less than Horde.

We are losing them now, I agree. It’s not due to the dev’s, though. Please don’t stoop to that troll nonsense…
I’ve been playing since 2006. BG’s since 2007, with most of my time played through TBC, WotLK and MoP. Alliance did fine back in the day. I’d say the BG average for me was close to 50/50. We did not have a lot of pre-made teams then.
During Classic, we had some weird stuff happen. We had the crazy queue disparity. Those not involved in the pre-made teams (or, those screwed over by them enough) simply gave up and figured “why bother.” Alliance took advantage big time in AV. When that was taken away, pouting ensued, which added to the AFK crap.
This bleed over into the other BGs. I’ve been in more BGs that started off with “Whelp. Let’s just let them win” than “Hey, let’s try to win!” Or, if they start off trying, they give up at the first setback.
Recently, however, I’ve been in many that are different. There’s no indication of pre-made teams (x-server, or otherwise.) Folks simply try more. Wins are usually by a relatively small margin (3:2 in AB or WSG, sometimes barely in AV… etc.) Losses are also by a small margin. Yeah, we get one mark, but the honor was still okay and fun was had.
