If you need to know what a 2x4 is, it’s a farm group you would find in the “Custom” section of the Group Finder in the Dungeon Finder window where two groups of four people, hence the name, share loot with each other as if both groups had five people rather than just one group of five.
Raid farming, man oh man do I miss thee. The days where a solid group of 40 people slaughtering orcs in Tanaan was pure bliss. Sure, it was inefficient compared to actually doing the content per hour, but it was to compliment, not compete.
That got nerfed in 7.2. I was boasting the Sentinax as the next best thing to have happened to WoW, a dedicated raid farm. Then someone decided it was a competition to actually doing the content, and not a compliment. Suddenly… poof. Raid farming is gone.
Around BFA, someone came up with the concept of 2x4’s. That someone may have relieved part of the itch that was raid farming. It was a larger group of people, but not that large.
Finally, most of BFA’s farms were nerfed into the ground, and hardly do you see Group Finder listings for them anymore.
Pretty much this, at the rate things are going, solo instance farms are being nerfed into the ground in the near future. The problem was more complicated than the idea set, admittedly, but here you go:
Bring raid farms back.
Buff BFA farms to diversify groups.
I know this issue doesn’t hold a candle to the larger issues, but the little things matter.
