Trying to cap my green geared friend which basically means me 1v2ing while he flops around on the keyboard. Normally this would be 1500ish shannanigans but at 1200MMR and teams are full conquest HPal Warr Disc Rogue etc running perfect CC chains. Might as well delete the bracket

Yeah no.
Teams get a pulse around 1500 right now and you can still 50/50 up through the BM hunters to 1800 relatively easy.

The OP has a point. Arena and PvP in general has been neglected for so long that new players will not touch arena. It is slowly dying. I came up against several multi glad teams sub 1k.
People are scared to mention this because veterans will shame them for being bad players but we should all want new players playing for the health of the game.

I almost can’t que most the time, I play at higher mmr in both 2s and 3s often and if it’s not late night primetime the ques are dead or 5+ min ques. Sat a 8min que for 2s at 1950cr cause the team MMR was higher yesterday. I don’t wanna harp on the modes too much but letting the solo modes just funnel in the same rewards has crippled the brackets into more prime time (read late night) ques than ever before. Wish I wasn’t punished for wanting to play with my friends.

I boosted a guy to 1400 who was literally honor level 10 and started playing the game a week prior. He was around 1200 with a 30% winrate and I went 10-3 with him. I promise that there aren’t people at 1200 who are landing perfect CC chains. Half the teams are meme double DPS, if you just survive the opener you will automatically win the game.

We won every game on fresh honor greens alts. Was 2k mmr for a few with no gear. You can certainly play at 1500 etc
Literally just dinged 80 yesterday on this holy pally and jumped right into 2s with full greens. Took first applicant in lfg which was a half geared war (challenger level exp), and played 36 games to 1526. MMR was around 1660 or something like that.
2’s is definitely very deflated but it’s not impossible to climb. Double dps is definitely weak though. You’re going to lose to any semi competent war/heal, aff/heal, rogue/mage, bm hunter/heal, feral/heal, ww/heal, and dh/heal which will be about 98% of the ladder.
Certain specs/comps just don’t do well in 2s, and IMO, your time would be better spent doing 3s, RSS or blitz. For example, I could not get sub rogue working well for the life of me in 2s, but gained rating pretty quickly on it in blitz.
This was actually my easiest match up, with bm/healer being the worst.

a good 50% of your games in 2s will be against feral/heals or bm hunter/heals I feel right now…

Gotta love being 2200 sitting in 9 minute qs at primetime on a sunday just to fight people 200 mmr lower than me who offer no challenge whatsoever and give almost no rating
11-2 on my last q session and gained 18 rating
