I saw Blizzard aren’t going to remove 2v2 Gladiator and R1 titles in the Wrath of the Lich king Classic - so why can’t we get Gladiator and R1 titles from 2v2 on retail back as well?
2v2 in early Wrath was dominated by Death Knights the new hero class and later on by Rogue Disc Priest in season 6 or 7 (Blind and Fear were put onto the same diminishing returns category (they used to not share Diminish category) and maybe that’s all that needed to happen). This dominance led to 2v2 Gladiator and R1 titles being removed when nerfing a few classes was possibly enough.
I think maybe it was an overreaction at the time to remove the titles since a lot of other classes got a chance to be powerful in 2v2 in later seasons of the WOTLK expansion. A lot of players really enjoy 2v2 over 3v3 and I think it should have the same competitive feeling for Gladiator and R1 titles 3v3 has.
Why should 2v2 get back or not get back Gladiator and R1 titles, especially since 2v2 is a very active bracket?

I actually prefer 2v2 because I don’t have many active friends to play with. I’d love them to bring back titles/mounts from 2v2. That would actually be so awesome.

Rock paper scissors is more exaggerated. Flavor of the month comps are highly effective and that’s all anyone will q up. Add the with account wide rewards and you’re creating a mess.
I think the community already does this in 3s but I think you’d have to seriously lack awareness to not see how much worse balance is in 2s.
In s2 legitimately any caliber of player could BM/priest to 2400 in s3 it was outlaw/priest it wasn’t a matter of anything more than reroll correct class and play enough games to get there.
While people do this in 3s it’s a bit less effective
You’d have to do some work to make 2s more fair…specs without a mortal strike or lacking sustain suffer pretty badly.
There should be something unique for ending the season at the very top of the 2s ladder though

I would like for them to add prestigious awards to the 2’s bracket, I get that there are cheese comps in 2’s but it’s the same thing in 3v3. It would be nice if they could do some class tuning for 2v2 interactions to make things a bit more fair.
Because 3s is the only balanced, blah blah, something something, reasons that make the leetist try hards feel good, and give the gate keepers something to cry about.
This sums up the entire history of WoW PvP beautifully. 2s, 3s, rbgs, and even 5s back in the day, are flooded with FotM.

i wish they could balance the game around 2s, they probably could do it the same way there are different stats for PVE/PVP, they could do 2s/3s
but realistically its too much work for blizzard and they just don’t have the budget/motivation to do so.
it shouldnt be called gladiator, and it shouldnt give a glad mount. but there should be a title, and there should be a mount (maybe ground)
2s feels so much more diverse than 3s, the rock paper scissors argument is a joke.

theres no valid argument that you could apply in 2s that you couldnt immediately apply to 3s but even worse. and theres no argument against having “r1” titles/mounts for being a good 2s player.
more rewards are good, as long as theyre not at the expense of existing rewards, I.E. hijacking gladiator or r1 from 3s would be terrible.

there’s obviously meta comps, but there’s a dozen of s and a tier comps in 2s. meanwhile there’s like 4 in 3s.
if you queued 50 2s games and 50 3s games there would be more diversity in the 2s and it’s not even close.

Again, what? Straight up not the case man. There’s some specs you will NEVER see in 2s. In 3s you even see tank specs as disgusting as they are.

What? Do you even play this game? Above 2100 you might see 1 or 2 different comps but it’s literally all just hunter healer and rogue healer. Saying 2s has dozens of s and a tier comps is so fried.
At 1800 maybe. Above 2100 though this isn’t the case at all.

I think in retail 2s all you would see is warriors, rogues, and hunters dominating for all the top slots. It would create the same scenario that titles were removed from the bracket in the first place.
A lot of specs just aren’t as viable in 2s without a 2nd dps to compliment their spec kit like they do in 3s. Remember that blizzard’s tuning (or so they say) is focused on 3v3 and not 2v2.

Why does anyone care? Game is a sinking ship, if you can bolster some activity by making a bracket where 2 friends could play with a goal without the added annoyance of a 3rd participant, then you may as well.
The 2s bracket is already pretty popular and active? Nobody enjoys high rated 2s unless you’re one of the broken specs and even then you still have counters to q into

I’m pretty sure the main reason it hasn’t been added back to 2’s is because blizzard intentionally wants more participation in 3s as a result of people chasing the titles from that bracket.
I’m sure the statistics are still relatively the same, but following the PvP summit they did back in MoP the hunter Tosan made a video showing the approximate participation bar graphs blizzard had showed to the R1’s that were invited. It had 2’s participation with 2-3 more active players then in 3s, and if you change the reward structure the 3s bracket would further decline.
