Well, I unsubbed a few weeks ago then came back recently to just do some m+ with my guild mates, BUT I’m mostly a PvP player and I saw the past hotfix “scandal” they made. So what I wanted to know is: how does 2v2 feel right now? Is the game solely focused on drinks as I’ve seen some streamers point out, are the shield/“necrotic strike” trinket feeling weird or…if anyone would be whiling to share their thoughts on the matter, I’d appreciate. Regardless, have a nice one!
I’ve never been more unsatisfied with 2v2 unless playing double DPS. Healer/DPS games constantly go to 60%+ dampening.
Dh > dk > destro/ww> fury > anything else
rdruid > hpal> rsham exclusively with packspirit > anything else
2s are exceptionally bad right now and the necrotic trinket was a massive mistake
I only played double dps, if we dont win in 2 minutes its game. Everything is healer x, i tried a game with a healer that game lasted nearly 20 minutes.
Locks are out of control, Udk’s are super nasty, ww i cant even explain them. I get excited when a see a healer dps that isnt one of those dps, heal im even happy to see surv hunter which I have a 0 chance of beating.
All the above posters are correct. There is no outplay ability potential anymore it feels like. If you enter the arena as one of the un-annoited classes, you feel screwed from start to finish. This season feels horrendous, and unsatisfying. I sincerely hope for a mets shift next week.
20 minutes? Not even remotely possible. If you afk’ed for the first 15 minutes, maybe. The maximum for most matches in 6 minutes now with how mana and dampening work. I have stretched a couple to 7-8, but that’s mostly running around. At that point though, I can’t even heal because of how high dampening is.
Also, I’m cue’ing in the 1900-2k range now and see as many double dps comps as I do healer comps. The massive nerfs to healing actually have made many of these comps more viable. They can run around and kite and just draw the game out in some cases. mage/rogue and ret/hunter still work as they have in the past. Seen plenty of prot pali/dh teams as well.
So quit the bs.
Preach, hyperbole is OP and a stale forum meta.
Like we pretending damp doesn’t start at 25% in 2s and increases by what, 1 every 10s
There’s some dps classes I have a hard time with beating in 2s as resto druid.
One of them is feral druid/disc priest, as long as they stay alive they do enough constant damage to oom me and are fast enough to keep you from drinking. Sometime if you try to cyclone they can stealth out right before you finish the cast, IDK HOW THEY ARE DOING THAT… hacks maybe? The disc priest adds more damage to the equation, so basically they just swap back and forth until I can’t keep up with damage.
Next one is hunter, especially paired with druid, it doesn’t matter where you are they leap and trap you ever 20 seconds are so, follow that with 3 cyclones and a bash and it’s gg.
Obvious every season any class paired with rogue is killer, I can survive only if my partner can take obvious cues on when he needs to swap to the rogue and help me out.
The only other one is retribution paladin paired with a mw monk. Mainly because it doesn’t matter how many times you almost kill them, they will have a bubble waiting. Not only that, I can only deal with ret burst for so long before dampening wins the match. I feel this could be the most extreme case where my partner and I could play a solid game and take all the right steps but never actually get a kill.
3’s seems to be a lot more forgiving on some of the unbalances in comp.
Edit: Plus, lfg in 2s seems widely varied in skill regardless of rating which blows my mind. Many many players out there that have 2k+ achieves but can’t stay alive or do poo poo dps and make terrible noob mistakes.
Thank you for you comment =]
YES i have encountered several matches where 2 dps stealth and run away for like the first 2 minutes of the game or so to try to ramp up dampening faster, then they burst and pve their way to victory. Doesn’t always work for them, and then sometimes it does.
Yea, it’s a completely valid strat in some cases. If dampening is at 30-35% even vs 25%, it makes a big difference in recovering from an opener.
That actually makes me fear double rogue O.o
It is not long before even applying full hots is barely moving my health. At the start of the game I’m killing it, health rises quickly. However, I don’t necessarily like that you get less arena points from winning a 2s match than you do a 3s match. I could arena for 4 hours straight and only be about halfway to capping. I believe the way it was in burning crusade was that you had 10 arena match wins, then you could get your cap for the week. However sometimes those matches would last up to 45 minutes or longer, then you still lose lol.
I feel like everything wasn’t so inflated back then though. Normally you played people on your same skill level, and now it’s like you could play with people who suck 1 game and then the very next you are fighting 2 amazing players with great gear.
I know my rating isn’t high at all right now but my Shadow Priest/RetPally combo has been lots of fun.
We used to do a Rogue, RetPally, and Holy Priest 3s though and that also was wild.
People need to think outside the box more imo
That’s actually a pretty cool PoV on the matter.
the game isn’t like this anymore. you get stomped by meta comps for trying
unless you’re nahj and que with an arcane mage
Here’s a meta comp: Rogue and Pyro Mage.
It’s easy: Rogue simply stuns someone and the Mage drops a meteo and/or pyroblast to nuke one party before moving to the other.
How did we handle it?
- Stack.
When they come in for the opener, we stack. One of us will get stunned, but they can’t break the stun without opening to fight and because we are stacked: the damage is split.
Because we are a Priest and Paladin, we can also use Shields to dissapate the Damage.
Once the opener is broken, it’s a relatively trivial matter of CC and killing them one at a time.
Everything feels cancerous atm. 2’s, 3’s, RBG’s, it doesn’t matter. Sometimes I just log and start to feel nauseated… Open LFG and there are 5 teams for Arena and 2 for RBGs, I’m pretty sure the majority of players feels the same.
Rough time in 2s right now. Some comps have so much damage you or your partner die in first 30 seconds. Or you run around like a hamster for 3 minutes until you run out of mana. You can’t drink as an hpal so if any other comp but a disc priest decides to play the long game you lose. On the other hand some comps just spam damage that you cannot outheal even when spam casting.
Play with a DK, you will do much better. There’s no drinking against a half-brained DK and you can land a kill in one chain.
