Am I the only one who misses 2H holy paladin play? That was a blast, great burst damage in 5 mans, Great for solo questing. the shield is nothing ore than a “stat stick”. “With Crusaders Might” and “Avenging Crusader” still as talents it makes sense IMO.

I agree most other caster classes have options between a 2h staff or 1h off hand combo. Why the paladin was shoved into this sword and board niche i dont know.
Mind you i dont overly mind sword and board myself but i dont get the lack of the option.

They would have to revert the changes they made to weapon damage this expansion. I managed to get a 2h weapon on my holy pally, it was a polearm I got from a weapon box gotten by doing an emissary quest. The white hits did more damage, but Crusader strike did the same as the 1h I later upgraded to.
And that shield is giving me 10% damage reduction and block chance, Thats nothing to scoff at.
As if that would be a bad thing. They ought to revert much more than just the weapon damage.
To the OP, lots of people want the classic look and feel of a 2 hand weapon wielding Holy Paladin. Commented on several and seen even more. Not alone.
To be fair crusader strike is a real joke as an ability.
As ret it deals less damage than an auto attack.
I remember having 5.7k auto attack and 5.2k crusader strike.
idk what your classic experience has been. The only time my holy pally used a 2h in classic was when I was too low level to have a proper healing weapon, or when my other gear overgeared what I was doing so hard that the damage weapon didn’t matter.
Just be happy you can mog that 1 hander and shield to your artifact weapon
I’m pretty sure he is referring to the iconic warcraft paladin look, and the paladin by lore not that cleric trash that we were stuck with in vanilla; & now in classic wow.

Ah the old Uther look.
I can agree with that, Though the metamancer in me would demand they move weapon damage back to legion’s configuration, so I’m actually gaining something for losing my shield + block chance.

Could make a baked in passive.

I too, miss 2h weapons. Got a plethora of them i could transmog to, but cant.
Don’t forget that shields give us a very substantial armour bonus which works against all physical damage, not just blockable melee attacks.
I’m all in favour of 2H Holy and always transmog to my Legion mace, but equipping a 2H right now (if you could somehow get one at a decent ilvl) would be a small nerf. Probably more impactful in M+ and PvP, as raid damage tends to be magic.
