It is definitely supposed to be a 2H wep
I would have thought by now (with how iconic two handed Shaman is) that we would have a cosmetic option.
Doomhammer has been both a 1h and 2h so consistently in lore, that who knows what it is supposed to be.
I can find just as many instances of it being 1h as 2h.
Maybe. It has a long history of also being a 1H weapon.
Is 2 handed shaman, something that was already going away by the time TBC launched outside of memes…an “iconic” shaman thing?
When shaman were designed DW for 17 of the 18 years they were around?
Why people gotta be such downers about 2H Enhancement? People liked RNG burst and big weapon > two small weapons. People found it fun, it became iconic, even though it didn’t last long it is what Enhancement is/was famous for. Like a Paladin bubble-hearthing or a Warrior with Bladestorm.
The last thing Enh had close to this was Doomwinds/Chain Harvest in SL. Particularly in early SL when Doomwinds was still good. Might be a bit of a hot take but SL Enh>DF Enh even if DF Enh may perform better. I stand by the idea that Overwhelming Maelstrom made the spec worse.
Note: I was thinking of PvP stuff when typing. Far as I remember Enh was mid in SL PvE(raid). I don’t follow M+ at all.
Fun detected, laser beams activate. You just know some salty dev back in vanilla probably lost their roll for Sulfuras and decided to destroy the Enchancement Shaman forever.
Probably because it was the worst designed class/spec I have ever seen in any MMO in existence.
Yes, people enjoyed the most skill-less way to possibly play a class, where all skill was removed and everything was based on getting an RNG proc.
Didn’t get the random proc? You lost. Got the random proc? You 1 shot some under geared guy, and there was nothing either of yall could do about it.
I am well aware that people enjoy the game playing for them, because it removes any responsibility from the person who actually play well. They can just blame bad RNG for their failures.
Even with this, enhance was in a completely pitiful state for both PVE and PVP with this.
Yes, I am aware that some people liked lacking any flavor to the class, and having 1 button do all their work for them.
Chain harvest added nothing new to the class. I’d even go as far as saying that enhance has better healing utility in DF than it did in early SL.
Other than the fact its been really really really good for a bit now.
Other than the fact its been really really really good for a bit now.
You’re just wrong, objectively. Shaman has been the least played class in the game for a long, long time.
I didnt say it was the most played class.
I said its been really good for a bit now.
Those are two different things.
And if you look at high end content, its not the least played in that either.
I hear you, you don’t like fun, you want to keep the least played class exactly the way it is, and can’t even admit the simplest fact like how there should absolutely be at least a cosmetic 2h enh shaman option in the game. I get it.
Got it. You arent here to even attempt to have an honest conversation. I will move on.
This is why no one seriously listens to the “2H Enh” movement. Because yall be silly.
Edit : PS. Sorry for never admitting to something that was never part of this conversation. Go strawman your conversation somewhere else.
Imagine arguing against giving your own class more cosmetic options that only make the game/class better and do absolutely nothing to harm it in any way. And I’m the one “not having an honest conversation”.
I know I shouldnt reply. But for entertainment purposes.
Can you show me where I argued against cosmetic options?
Sure, you replied to my comments when I’ve only, exclusively been discussing the aesthetic of enh shaman in this thread.
Anyway, I’ll take that as you admitting it should be an option in the game.
No. Please show me the exact statement where I said I am against cosmetics. Now remember. This is where I first responded to you.
Are you saying that your intent with this statement is that they destroyed shaman…cosmetically only…forever?
Windfury took it to an extreme.
Yet when the spec wont perform everyone will be here asking for buffs so that it can perform.
Not really.
Yet here you are, asking for Vanilla.
Which you will complain about if it doesnt perform.
DW melee, that has ranged spell casts, totems as needed, and enhances its weapons.
If you have a single intellectually honest bone in your entire body, you know exactly what I was saying. Stop avoiding the issue and admit directly that you agree 2h enh as a cosmetic option is a good idea. No more of the neckbeard special, just stop and admit it.
Wow needs to encourage different weapon builds for classes
Dk gets a bit of options between 2h and dw, enh should be the same, as should holy paladin 2h. Weapon type should give a small bonus like in diablo via talents
Even ww having a slight playstyle difference between two 1h or a 2h staff would be cool
ANY spec that is unviable is going to have people complain, and when/if it is Meta they complain anyway. I don’t chase meta specs/classes. In fact I prefer my spec to not be in any meta. No spec playstyle/build should be unviable.
Literally the opposite of what I said.
DW melee, that has ranged spell casts
So like a Frost DK. The other two points are valid, but these are shared traits with other melee specs these days.

This guy gets it. Not a difficult concept to understand.
Nope, Enhance Shaman is dual-wield 1H only. That its talents are built around that would make it very difficult to change .
As a great Warchief once said “Times change.”
I think the inclusion of 2H scaling on some of the Enh spells are indicative of Blizzard having at least at one point during DF development considered 2H Enh. Could be laying groundwork for future changes. Speculative, yes, but it gives us hope.
They just did two major spec reworks and announced another less extensive one but it’s still a rework. Our time will come…eventually…when Blizzard needs to start throwing hail-marys to get people to resubscribe again.

Lol it’s sad how true this is. Always a weird experience seeing an idea appear in the game that Blizz obviously copy and pasted from the forums when they were getting desperate.
