I know they’re getting rid of the 280% flight speed in SL, and when you purchase epic flying it’s auto 310% but what happens to those alts that only have 280% flying going into SL…well they get upgraded automatically or will we still have to buy 310% flying
You probably still need to buy it. You will just keep your 280% speed that isn’t available anymore.
You will need to buy it. My understanding is those currently at 280% will remain there and not be bumped up or down.
darn…was hoping they just get upgraded but that was highly wishful thinking
Currently on the ptr and beta you keep the 280 flight skill, but it doesn’t shown up in your flight skills. If you are on a flying mount it still says 280 if you mouse over it though. I was also hoping that they would bump it up to 310 for free, but it looks like it’s not happening.
Its going to bumped up to 310. It would be just completely absurd to keep an unobtainable fly speed in the game for no reason.
I don’t believe that they would bump you down without giving you a gold refund, but I have no confirmation for this. If they gave you a gold refund, though, you would probably just spend it on 310% flying, so they might as well just let people retain their 280% flying skill or bump everybody up to 310%.
I hope that is the case. I slowly but sure upgraded all my guys who can fly to 310 from 280.
Would hate think I just squandered all that gold.
Gonna keep most of my characters at 280% just to flex on people with my slower but now unobtainable speed.
There are tons of things that are still in the game that are unobtainable. Recipes you can’t get the mats for. Mats that no longer have recipes. Transmogs and other collectibles that are no longer obtainable.
It was probably easier to just tweak the coding have the 280% not show up in the spell book nor on the trainer and switch the prereq for 310% to 150% rather than do all that and code something new to bump people up or down, especially as someone on another forum stated, Blizz would piss people off regardless of whether they bumped people up or down or left them the same. Leaving them the same is the least work.
Oh ok, so you think that something as awful as “old characters are faster than newer ones” would be something they intentionally leave in the game?
I thought they were getting rid of 150% flying speed, not 280.
Before you have to drop 5K for 280, and another for 310. I thought now you get 280 right away “cheap” but still have to pony up the 5K for 310.
