A lot of us really hoped they would reconsider the 40 man raids and making them all 25 man. Just wondering what the community thinks?
40 mans 40 mans 40 mans. 25 is a get together. 40 is a party
I like the 10 man raid. Less competition for loot.
40 mans are terrible.
Don’t care to do another 40 man ever, really. Way overrated.
10 man is so much better.
I want 40 man raids. 10 man raids are a lot easier and more convenient but 1) they make it difficult to carry bad players 2) they make it so there’s no real need to commit to any guild or care about the game. People need to stop arguing in favor of stuff that feels easier but overall ruins the feel of the game.
Honestly, raid size is a huge part of the appeal of Classic for me personally. I think that if WoW Classic 2019 showed anything, it showed that it was WAY EASIER to fill 40 man raids with this generation of gamers than it was back in 2004.
I feel like a 10 man raid that resets on a 3 day schedule in Classic is somewhat out of place, but it kind of works at 25 (mostly because that’s all we have and anyone who plays accepts it).
Going forward, it’s my hope that we see proper 40-man (or even larger) raids, that reset weekly, so that we can set guild recruitment and raid schedules properly for later phases.
Yeah. I mean, what’s going to happen to all the guild with 1 or 2 10-man teams when 40 man content comes out? Esp. if they’ve been doing on-the-fly reset day scheduling and shuffling people around due to a 3-day raid reset?
Maybe a lot of mergers. We’ll see…
40 man is best. It ensures casuals and non-optimal specs are invited. It also has a party atmosphere. 10 mans get way too sweaty. 25 also encourages elitism.
40 man are horrible, I would say even less than 25. My ideal is 10, but I can be ok with 20 max.
I can fully understand where you are coming from. I feel like as people drop off though it will be tougher to fill raids. 25 mans have just always felt right to me. But like I said I can respect view point. Just have to wait and see how active the community is at lvl60. Being in raiding guilds from classic , tbc all the way through wrath. It’s difficult to have even 25 people show up on time consistently.
Only divisible by 10 raids. 10, 20, 30, 40, yes.
25 was always stupid. How are you going to fit your 10 mans into a 25 man? 5 people will be benched on 3 10 mans, and 5 people will be pugged if you use 2 10 mans.
At least you could have your guild running 4 UBRS groups and turn that into a 40 man.
This is, has, and (imo) always will be the case, but it doesn’t matter if that raid is 10, 15, 20, 25, 40, or 60, for that to be so.
However, something like WoW Classic where you have things like bindings for Thunderfury, or QSR, etc. that keeps even Naxx geared players wanting to come back and farm MC, you also have access to many weekly raids.
Anyway, I don’t really disagree with what you’re saying, but I also don’t think that raid size is particularly impactful towards the issue of filling raids. It’s always a lot of effort for those involved to constantly ensure that raid groups are filling up and completing content.
More tooling of some kind to help raid leaders, guild leaders, and just content leaders in general might be helpful, but I really don’t think raid size is that tool, and it does have a somewhat outsized impact on the individual player attending that raid. That is, a 40-person raid feels much more epic than a 5 or 10 man dungeon. And this is also a pretty large difference between Retail and Classic (though of course, raid size is one of the first things to change in the first expansion TBC).
I think 40’s are just fine but they could also adjust it to make it a 25 man as well.
I really prefer 10man. You get your small group of friends to play with. I also only did 10man content in WOTLK before Blizzard decided to take forever to do all phases.
I know not everyone is the same, I play the game for fun with friends, not ‘I HAVE THE BEST PIXESLS THAT NOONE ELSE CARES ABOUT, BUT I TRY TO JUSTIFY MY LIFE BASED AROUND THESE!’
I like both.
Blizzard said it’s too much effort. Small indie company I guess.
If it were wow classic, I’d say no. Since it’s wow SoD and, as someone has pointed out, they are trying to appeal to the retail crowd, it would probably be a good move for SoD.
40 mans will be fine, you’ll probably be able to clear them with 25-30 competent and geared people regardless, it will be harder to fully pug though, but if you have a dedicated 10 man and fill from there it should be no sweat, considering a lot of guilds are organizing multiple 10 mans, a 40 man doesn’t seem that difficult.
If you are straight pugging for 40 mans expect 2-3 hours to fill half the raid haha, also the unchanged 40 man mechanics won’t be difficult at all with current and additional runes,
I would greatly perfer flex
I have my fingers crossed for 80 person raids.
