240hz or 165hz for my x3d w/ 4070s

Thinking about getting a 27GR83Q-B for my new 7800x3d with a 4070S. Will I be able to get the most out of that monitor with those specs or should I just get something like the 27GP850-B instead at 165 hz Mostly play wow and total war warhammer 3 but I dabble in other games too.

you’ll only really see those framerates in low spec games like counterstrike or something, as the 4070s isn’t really enough to pump out those types of frames.

Ultimately IMO super high refresh monitors are a niche category for specific use cases and those people know exactly why they want it or need it. And if you have to ask then you don’t need it.

personally my displays are 165hz and I cap them at 120 since after around 90-100fps or so I can’t really tell enough to care or warrant the extra heat and power

I agree, you’re going to be limited to lower FPS in most critical situations in games like WoW. I’m not personally familiar with Warhammer 3. Both monitors appear to support adaptive sync (“G-Sync Compatible”), which is what really matters in this case.

I concur with advice already given and I have a 240hz monitor with a 4090 . But I bought the monitor for the value (it was on sale a few hundred off) , its size deep blacks (terrific contrast) and vibrant colors. Truly it has a beautiful picture.

But everything aside with respect I never (and I’ve been a gamer for over thirty years much of which I built my own systems I went through phases of overclocking ) understood the importance done put on high fps numbers.

If the action is smooth , there’s no tearing , no synch issues then don’t go crazy over a number.

Just enjoy the game.

Agreed, refresh is just one part of the picture (lmao DAD JOKE!!!)

Other aspects have a huge impact, as above stated black levels, colors, etc.

Personally I go for size first, but that’s because I can’t see for poop.

Me too. Both my eyes have issues with the cornea. Focusing is a b.

The big monitor with the crisp display was a must for me.

240 FPS in WoW will really only occur in dungeons, some places of the open world, and all contingent on settings.

I have a 240 hz main monitor, but I cap my FPS to 120 when it’s hot, and during raids.
