Fix for Bind-on-Equip items in Midnight

Update 4:50 p.m. PST February 27

We deployed hotfixes to address issues with Bind-on-Equip items. Items that needed to be adjusted should now work as intended, and gear that is intended to required a player level below 90 should have a required level appropriate for its item-level.

Gear that was earned by players themselves and equipped, should once again be wearable.

Items that were generated by level 90 players and is around item level 200 will still have an equip requirement of level 90.

Today we’ve discovered an unfortunate bug in Midnight content where Bind-on-Equip items that are meant to have a minimum level requirement of 90 have been dropping with a minimum of level 80.

We’re working on a fix, and when we deploy that fix, BoE items that should have had a level 90 requirement will operate as intended.

Thank you!

You’ve “discovered” uh, more like you didn’t test anything as per usual

So if someone is wearing one of these items… on a sub-90…

To quote a movie character,

Dennis, our lives are in your hands, and you have butterfingers ?!

In theory it should treat it as if it’s not equiped. Similar to when you swap specs if wearing a legion weapon because is has an unmeetable requirement, it counts as “broken”.

How about fixing XP gains?

This sure won’t be abused.

RIP to those who poor souls who bought a full set of BoE items at level 80 and now don’t have anything to wear. If the items are still worn, they seem to be marked as broken now, like unrepaired gear.

why make low ilevel items level 90 requirements now? I had on a ilvl 139 weapon that not requires level 90

Can you un-fix it? My ilvl 145 gloves now say they require level 90 to wear. Pretty sure nothing with an ilvl of 145 should require level 90 to wear.
My hands are naked.

So if you sold your raid gear for BoE’s you are up creek without a paddle?

WTF total BS!!! I just spent 900,000 gold on gear ilvl 201 and 207, and now it’s toast!

Edit: I’m not going lie, I’m just about done with WOW. This team is making way too many mistakes. All the way back to the guildbank crisis just too many bugs throughout the game. In addition, they have cost me millions in gold. I’ve been paying you for years for xpacs and subs and this is how you do things now. No reimbursement has ever been offered for their negligence. It doesn’t seem like they care about us anymore.

Not gonna lie, that’s a pretty bogus bug to release. I just dinged 80, bought the boes and disenchanted all my quest gear to help in leveling profs.

Guess it’s good I found this post just now; wish I would have looked about two hours earlier. Went and bought two items from the AH both only around 3k in gold, better the problem is fixed now rather than later.

Ok this is a weird thing to not notice at all during “testing”. Didn’t something like this happen with TWW gear at some point too?

It has happened many times in the past that minimum levels were changed on gear after somebody in development either noticed that nobody had checked before implementing or completely changing their original decisions.

This is the reason why low level crafted gear is craptacularly worthless and a disincentive to ever craft gear in the future.

Is this related to how my ilvl 145 (the same as quest greens at 83) blue pants have overnight decided they require level 90?

I have an ilvl 158 boe sword that was 80 required yesterday. Now it’s level 90.

You can’t possibly expect me to believe a boe blue sword of ilvl 158 was intended to be level 90 required.
