The week of February 3, with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, we will remove temporary power increases that were made to some specs at the beginning of MoP Classic. This is a necessary step before we move to the next MoP patch, “Escalation”.
These changes only affect servers where the Throne of Thunder is active, and do not impact PvP.
Classes
Mage
Fire
Reverted the 15% increase to Pyroblast.
Combustion now provides an additional 20% of Ignite damage on the target (was 50%).
Warlock
Demonology
Reverted the 25% increase to Doom.
Reverted the 10% increase to Soul Fire.
Affliction
Reverted the 10% increase to Malefic Grasp’s DoT.
Reverted the 15% increase to Malefic Grasp’s damage.
Reverted the 20% incrase to Drain Soul’s DoT.
Reverted the 20% increase to Drain Soul’s DoT.
Hunter
Ranged attack power from the Legendary Meta Gem Capacitive Primal Diamond increased by 100%.
Developers’ notes: This adjustment is a separate tuning effort that applies to all Hunter specs.
Completely off the mark with this for hunter changes. Hunter needed like 15% flat damage increase across the board to compete with the other pure damage classes.
We got basically nothing for a buff and you nerfed multiple classes so now we suck but we have to spend even longer in ToT because fire mages and aff locks got nerfed. Lets just revert the nerfs and the hunter “buff” and forget this ever happened.
Hey, Bliz. Here’s a thought. I’m hearing a lot of players say that Mop Classic is “hanging on by a thread” and so on. Might not want to just randomly drop capricious nerfs on casters for no explained reason. All you’re doing is creating resentment and maybe a random big nerf like this is the last straw that makes some players walk.
Fix the bugs first.
And if you MUST just drop big nerfs, explain why. Not explaining just feels like a random middle finger out of the blue.
Shockingly out of touch. Instead of flat nerfing fire into the ground, do something about the mastery cheese that is inflating the numbers. Crit fire will now be literal trash cause you nerfed its primary damage source by 15%. May as well stay frost and have reliable stable damage.
Should have just buffed the outlier dps more like hunters and actually fix the raid bugs.
i think the reason is obvious and doesn’t really need much explanation, mastery fire was a complete abomination and affliction still is, mastery fire might be the most broken spec that classic wow has ever seen
What reason would that be? that like 2% of the mage playerbase can pull of a cheese strat on Ji-Kun? Here’s a thought: fix the buff from the food so it doesn’t stack past 1 instead of gutting the entire spec and throwing some collateral poop storm splatter on warlocks.
mastery fire was doing the damage of like 5 dps specs on fights that weren’t jikun, it was the top dps on jinrokh, council, tortos, durumu, twin emps, basically every fight is full of the classes on this list
the only fight that isn’t topped currently by affliction, fire or demonology is lei shen and megara
Blanket nerf to fire instead of stomping out the mastery cheese
Only nerfs in the middle of a tier, leading to progression issues for guilds
Still no bug fixes in sight, Durumu still a pita, Lei Shen still a joke (watch them fix the pylon bug as the only bug fix while leaving everything else in and making 98% of guilds go back to progression from it)
Getting 10/25 men mechanics in 25/10 men still a thing. Was a thing all the way back in WotLK putricide and we’re still dealing with it today somehow.
5.) Iron Qon bug where the slow cheese from the ice trails persists on a character even after you step out of the line, continues stacking to 4 (extreme slow + root) and remains permanently until you die.
The mastery thing is def out of hand, but that needed to be targeted specifically. Not just blanket nerf the entire spec. I personally hate the way mastery fire has to be played and was looking forward to actually playing crit fire.
Don’t really feel the nerfs are compensated by enough buffs, probably a global raid damage loss overall moreover as this was done late and that teams started to stack more of the favored specs. Would have been great to have a more elaborate balance patch like in the first season but I guess this is it.
indeed, the obvious answer is to buff fillers and nerf combustion, so that they’d rather cast 90 seconds of fireballs rather than wait for 27 different icds to proc then press combustion 90 seconds into the fight and solo a random megaera head
