As many players noticed, Transmogs that were previously applied to gear were removed in the 12.0.0 update. This was intentional as a part of the transition from a gear-based to a slot-based system.
Although previously saved loadouts were converted to Custom Sets in the new system, it costs the normal amount of gold to apply the first Transmog to your character, even if you’re simply setting your appearance back to the way it was before. This was an oversight on our part; you should have been able to maintain or reset your existing look without cost.
With the 12.0.1 update before the launch of Midnight, all player-characters will be granted one free Transmog. This will be automatically applied to the next outfit created for each character. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by first-time Transmog costs.
We’re also aware that Legion Artifact appearances can currently only be applied to weapons with compatible weapon categories. We’re working to implement the Legion Artifact override options for the updated Transmog system. You can expect to be able to apply Legion Artifact appearances to more weapon types in the 12.0.1 update.
I’m honestly impressed that communication seems to be happening on a more consistent basis (this week at least), than usual. Could just be a perception thing, but sure seems like there’s better acknowledgment of an issue, combined with explanation, and shared plans to address whatever the issue is.
The new transmog system is overall an improvement, but when people’s first interaction with it is being punished for no reason, that’s going to overshadow any of the positive changes you’ve made.
so generous, yet you have been getting $15 monthly for the last.. how many years and how much more and you could do only “one” free time.
At this point either remove the cost of transmogs in general or reduce their cost by minimum of 65-85% and let void elfs racial just have their cost complete removed.
It’s pathetic how the obvious clues of “we want more token buyers so we have to keep pushing it slower but steady” over the years with this decisions and changes..
Wow one free transmog included in our 15$ a month??? So generous!!! Why not give us the option of the legacy system too? Forcing us into this extremely expensive option is clearly a cash grab to sell WoW tokens.
Not good enough. The costs are too high and were too high in the previous system. It should be made free at this point. The bad faith arguments about gold sinks aren’t logical- it doesn’t remove the high amounts of gold (millions), its just a tax on regular players.
