20th Anniversary

A really good reward suggestion - the original collectors edition pets. Most players from 20 years ago that had these have long since stopped playing. Please provide a way for players to obtain mini diablo, the zergling and panda pets.

At what point do we stop just moving the line … and simply agree with my point of view:

After 5 years, bring it all back.

Five years is plenty of time to have “exclusivity.” After that, it doesn’t have to be as simple as just throwing it on a vendor… but bring it all back.

Note-- this is from a hardcore collector. I started during the beta for Vanilla! I HAVE THE OG COLLECTOR’S EDITION!!! I have those first three pets. Pets, xmog, toys, mounts, Achvs. … I have it all.

And I say: Bring it all back.

Even this anniversary event that is bringing back a great number of “exclusive” pets and mounts … why are THOSE ok, and not “those other ones??”

This random approval of what is “exclusive” and what is not is ridiculous and adds nothing to the game.

After five years: BRING IT ALL BACK.

Rolling rotation makes too much sense.

Why five why not ten? Or even better who are you to say everything should return.

You know exclusivity is what drives playtime right? You start with event items and then what? Elite sets? Gladiator mounts? Aotc mounts? You want to blur the lines to the point nothing matters in the moment?

I assume they’re saving a lot of old collectibles for future events and promos. Releasing everything at once means they gotta come up with new stuff for those events. And the exclusivity of those old collectibles probably drives more players to participate.

Because of the general life-cycle for the gaming industry. This should be obvious, unless you’re being disingenuous.

No. This sounds entirely entirely like what it is: made up. The most common complaint among the gaming community atm is complete disdain for FOMO.

Do you realize that Blizzard has said “it’s ok to have Rare/exclusive things” … and then just threw one of those rare/exclusive things on the BMAH??

Of course you don’t. Because you’re making an argument with no facts to support it.

Idk I’d vote for them.

With car parts, it’s closer to 10 years. I work in a software industry with long lifetimes, and I think 5 years is too little. We usually go 8, but I think 10 is closer to right.

Probably doesn’t change your arguments much, but I think Blizzard should be, probably, required to do this with old releases as a matter of practice.

We need a Murlocinator 9001 mount with wings and a 20th anniversary murloc plushie backback on it’s back waving a 20th anniversary flag.

But since nobody at blizzard has any cool ideas any longer… there ya go.

Exclusivity drives playtime

People see cool mount they raid heroic, people see cool elite set they spam arena or rss. Thats how it works. Not everyone is on a raiding guild that clears up to heroic guaranteed every patch and not everyone is a pvper.

Why do you think people played fated and awakened seasons? For the exclusive limited time rewards tied to them

Idc if you bring back promotion items like the anniversary ones, but I know you wont stop there and will ask for them to add old elite sets or aotc mounts to vendors, and that is not right because it goes against the time invested by players during said seaso

When BLIZZARD did it, after they said they wouldn’t …

… you have NO MORE ARGUMENT.

That’s not you: joe rando.
That’s not me: joe rando.

That’s the ACTUAL DEVELOPER.

I still have mine and they were exclusive to the original CE.

What old elite sets /aotc mounts came back?

Since you don’t even know the background of this discussion … is there where you start arguing semantics?

lol This isn’t the first time I’ve had this discussion. It’s always the same …

There is no background tell me what elite sets were brought back into the game?

See? These people wont stop st promotion events they wsnt everything without the time investment

lol The background is knowing what you’re arguing about. Which you seem to NOT know.

You can’t name a handful of items that WERE “exclusive/elite” in the collection community … and were brought back?

Please.

“Community! We’ve heardcyou loud and clear! … … … . . So here’s dire maul.”

Bahhahahahah

I’m surprised how contentious these anniversary awards have been.

The achievements and feats of strength that say, “I was here way back when…” are still there and that won’t be taken away from you just because somebody else has the pet now that used to come with it.

At the same time, viciously shaming people for putting value on “just pixels” is also kind of uncalled for. It’s okay for people to love their hobbies and feel sentiment towards different aspects of it. :upside_down_face:

Exclusively not tied to feats of skill are worthless to start with.

As for the rest well its a matter of taste I can see a argument for both sides. I lean towards timed exclusivity myself.
