This does feel sort of historic. I’ve never seen an in-game item sold for more than the game itself before, outside of gacha gambling or weird markets like CS:GO or Star Citizen.

When you put it that way, it does seem very much overpriced. I think reasonably $45.00 would have made more sense. $90.00 is gouging. Enough so that I’m surprised some attorney general somewhere isn’t giving this the side eye.
I have bought stuff off the store in the past with my own money. I just can’t justify this. TWW has been fun, but Blizzard has a long way to go before I open my wallet for anything extraneous.
I don’t know much about buying stuff with tokens but someone in discord was talking about buying this with 6 tokens. Tokens went to over 350k last night (OCE night time) and are now at 288k and it will be interesting to see how that ebbs and flows as people scramble for this thing.

I remember back when TBC dropped I was hot stuff in Lagforge, being a Human Male Paladin riding around on a Nightsaber.
To clue those in that might not understand - back then you had to go to a trainer to level up your skills. The only Paladin Trainer on the whole continent of Kalimdor was in Theramore. Getting Exalted with Darnassus to be riding around on a Nightsaber was an accomplishment.

On my first toon, a Tauren hunter, I had one of the only Black War Raptors on my vanilla server, was one of the few High Warlords on the server as well. It was like riding a T-Rex around and I would constantly get whispers from people going ‘omg cool mount!’ and the like. It was really fun, but I basically couldn’t use any city efficiently due to how tall I was and how small doors were back then.
Of course people would also beg me for gold, since back then, with all that epic gear and epic mount meant that you had gold in an era where gold was actually precious and valuable and hard to make (even if the AH was your life). Like even the richest people back then had paltry amounts of gold compared to the average player now. The joke was on them though; I spent everything I had to use that mount olololol.
But yeah, having mounts like that, that you earned and VERY few others had, that was pretty amazing and fun.

Thanks for unlocking the core memory that part of the Cata revamp of Stormwind and Ogrimmar was widening the spaces for mounts due to the fact Wrath’s Black War Mammoth was causing issues with people getting “stuck”.
Not going to lie. I saw the Brutosaur mount and legit thought it was from Ark for a moment.
I was about to ask which boss I kill to unlock the saddle.
It is hilarious how a single digital item is priced as high the most special edition of the game and all the content with that. It’s 100% a scam.

A $90 mount in any other MMO would be laughed out of existence. In WoW? Especially WoW in 2024 - Blizzard knows there’s enough people who will pay that that are still playing.
It needs to come with other functionality. I like what it already does, but it needs to be more. It needs to seat 5, fly, give access to your bank, your warband bank, your guild bank, the mailbox, the auction house and act as a secondary hearthstone that you can use to hearth anyone seated on the mount.
If it had all that as added value, I’d buy it.
