I’m pretty surprised that there is no RP option for servers.
I understand not wanting to split playerbases as people have seemed to always gravitate back to mega servers.
But RP servers are such a unique and creative environment. There doesnt need to be a RPPVP and a RP. But there should atleast be an RP server to let the people who love playing there to not be forced to creating microcosms on the pvp/pve.
I hope that Blizzard reconsiders not having an RP server; RP-PvP especially seems like a very popular realm type, and it would be unfortunate if people looking for that experience end up needing to try to recreate it via guilds and such on the other servers (which might not react too kindly to people roleplaying). It sounds like Season of Discovery ran into some trouble with its RP realms, but that doesn’t mean that there’s no demand for them; it would be nice for the realm type to be given another chance (even if it ends up needing to be merged in the distant future, which would be unfortunate but still better than never having one at all).
The RP servers on SoD were mishandled, and the playerbase was blamed.
There is a demand from the same (sorts of) people who made Grobbulus a good realm.
The only “good and real argument” I’ve seen on here is how some will see the queues on day one and go to the RP server instead of playing on the regular PVP server due to impatience. These players shouldn’t have rolled RP (which takes away from the RP part), and they are the exact type who will complain when they can’t get a group at 3am in two months. They also have no concept of ownership for their actions and the results of those actions. These types of people should never, ever be catered to but they are a massive part of Blizzards core target audience, probably because they’ll throw money at Retail.
Other than that though which would be more challenging to fix I agree.
With one mega server per region, RP servers would only serve as overflow for impatient, entitled players, so for once I’m kind of happy there’s no RP servers announced.
They said 1 Normal PVE, 1 Normal PvP, and 1 Normal RP server. Shame that the RPPVP server got spat on by Blizzard being lazy and not wanting to add 1 more server.
Nope, 1 normal, 1 PvP, 1 HC. Never a word about RP servers.
A hardcore server that’s fresh but not an RP? Man, they hate the RP community. Servers are gonna be congested anyhow so 2 more servers that are RP and RPPVP would help the RP crowd find their place. I’m not an RP type of person, I still think y’all need it. Sorry for SoD where the streamers and idiots swarmed CS and killed the RP of it before it began but there’s no reason Blizzard should punish y’all.
Now I’m genuinely upset for the RP community.
There definitely would be players on it for the smaller population, but surely a flawed RP server would be better than not having one whatsoever, no?
Additionally, there’s always the possibility that the main two servers are handled well enough in terms of sharding and such that this doesn’t turn out to be as large of a problem.
Now, I play EU and the traces from 2019 are … far too few normal servers were opened, so that the PvE-RR server was swarmed with players with non-rp names, like Ipwnu, Kinggeorge, Xrazorz and so on, they did in no way respect the RP tag or community, reports went unnoticed, heck there’s still the same player around on HW that my whole guild and a load more reported frequently the first few weeks (have him on my friends list).
It was not low, or even medium pop in the first many months. No small village feel there, The RP community did not die, but it sure did not thrive - most of all the soft RP’ers, those that do not go to a RP server with a heavy backstory, walking all the way from GS to SW, all the while talking in long, stylish sentences … but just want an immersive playtime free from IRL troubles, cares and disturbances - they suffered most, and when finally we were free of all the queue-evaders, the HC-addon community swarmed the server.
I’d just hate to see this on repeat. Then only normal servers are way better. Or even better, stay in Era.
Kaiwax says to expect queues in the beginning. Sigh.
Please Blizzard add a RP realm to Classic fresh!! The greatest time of my WoW life was playing on a RP/RPPVP realm in classic. I really don’t see why they wouldn’t. Before they gutted the SoD RP realms and HW EU, the community was flourishing. RP realms are always smaller but tight knit and actually interact with one another - RPers don’t want to play on a normal realm. (And I’d rather not be in a party with Fartblasterxø and Gigashart…)
