20 years of something you dont like and yet you still pay your monthly sub and grind anyways. why would blizzard change something thats clearly working to get your money?
I mean, yup. That would do it for me.
I like the combination of eventful celebration in mix of hard work rather than having everything given to me on a silver platter. It feels more rewarding in that sense like, âI spent so much focus and time on this and that brain juice is flowing to make me feel accomplishedâ.
Maybe its the Runescape side of me speaking like this. Iâve played that game far longer than wow and if you wanted something? A goal? An armor or weapon? You had to grind your tush through leveling up skills and learning to achieve the wanted goal. It felt good to go through that.
Isnât that what the current content is for? Grinding delves, grind M+, grind raids, grinding professions, grind grind grind grind. And everyone has come to just accept it, fine.
Do we really need the âcelebrationâ event to be another huge grind to do? Like we donât have enough grinding to do already? When am I even supposed to even find time to add another grind in?
I would much rather come into the event having a set of quests to complete to unlock the raids, do the quests and the raids, maybe a few Darkmoon style games, get an Achievement âcongrats you did the celebrationâ that unlocks all the tier sets for transmog. Then let people grind tokens for mounts or weapon transmogs or whatever if they want.
That would feel more like a celebration event to me.
What do you call it when someone recognizes that theyâre in an abusive relationship but, instead of leaving, they keep trying to talk their abuser into changing?
I know what Iâd call it.
Just support New World: Aeternum instead.
I see the finnance team are very close with the dev team.
You have some great points here but food for thought:
- You talk about new players not wanting to join a negative player base. Youâre being negative. This is free, cool, un-expected additional content. They could have sent out another corgie pet and said congrats!
- The player base doesnât agree on this. If you think optimistically, if all rewards were handed out easily, all rewards lose tremendous value. It should really be impossible to obtain all so that the two or three you get are rare and unique. This is a highly agreed upon positive aspect of early WoW - seeing what people have and going wow!!
-Donât focus on fomo. Kids get upset because the neighbor boy has all the toys and they have only 2. Thanks why we teach being thankful. This is coming from someone criticizes Blizz constantly lol
LOl no, no that was not highly agreed upon. If there was one single major complaint from pre-TBC WoW it was how all the end game content was made for 5% of the playerbase. Complained about so much and so loudly that they ended 40 man content and started down the road of making content more accessible to everyone.
Not talking about accessibility. Everyone has access to the event. Talking about everyone having every transmog. It used to be cool seeing people with crazy gear that separates them from the rest. Our opinions differ but its been split for over a decade
That only ever happens with current tier gear. Soon as people can start farming something that special snowflake aspect disappears quickly. And I think that is fine having cool looking current tier gear be something unique that only top end players are going to get right away.
Purely transmog gear from an Anniversary event isnât something that they should play the special snowflake game with.
i will hold all comments until i get to play the release.
TBH, i donât even want 4-6 of the armor sets anyhow. so thereâs no need for me to freak out over this.
hunter? nah
Evoker? nah
Warrior? Nah
Rogue? Old set is still better IMO
Shaman? Nah
So thatâs like 100 bronze saved right there
i will still go after lots of things, but i never go into patches or these types of events ever thinking i am going to get everythingâŚI have been transmogging for years, and i still have HUNDREDS of items that i havenât gotten yet.
you wonât quit lol. have fun grinding!
they probably have a set number of months subscription they need to recoup the development costs (and profits of course) of the event.
this is the only reason why it takes this long to get all the stuff
Ok, so the tier sets are 340, then the mounts and pets are an additional 110, and toys are an additional 40 for a total of 490, right? Is that even doable within the span of time that the even is gonna be running?
Yes, the badges are tradable and once you earn 100 you unlock additional repeatable ways to earn badges. Some can even be done on multiple characters.
I was under the impression that the quests only reward badges once per account. They did this to remove people like myself from no lifing it day one with my army of alts.
Only some of the activities can be repeated on alts, and only after you earn your first 100 badges.
Like clearing the BRD raid can be done multiple times on alts for additional badges (which will get you 8-12 badges), the world bosses (1-2 badges per boss)
Iâll be brutally honest:
The event doesnât really entice me outside of the revamped BRD raid, and the Classic Timewalking dungeons queueable at lvl 10.
Maybe Iâll level an alt with those, with the remainder of time Iâve got left.
Itâs just another grind, for grindâs sake.
Definitely not âupfrontâ on the fun stuff.
I have a feeling the 20th anniversary will be empty/dead after a bit of time.
I am glad I am sitting on 25,000+ time badges nowâŚremember now you can combine all your time badges too one character âŚ
