I played this game for a long time. There were many interesting moments, many pleasant memories. But I want to understand the “aesthetic” value of the game at the moment.
Previously, to fly in locations, you had to complete a bunch of quests and get an achievement. This was abolished. Is it worth doing anything at all if flights are introduced “automatically” later?
There used to be mounts for real currency, then they started selling it in the shop. (Hello, Sky Steed!) What’s the point of buying anything in this game for “real”?
There used to be a reward for “Invite a Friend.” Zhevry, Firemane, two-seater rockets. They were sold in the shop. The uniqueness of the player inviting friends is lost. Did they roll out something? Well, ok. Now lure them into the game yourself, everyone will buy them in the shop anyway.
Previously, there was “mentoring”. To get a “mentor”, in addition to 3000 quests, you also needed to have significant achievements for PvP or PvE. Now, for mentoring, just 3000 quests are enough. You play, automatically doing passing quests, and when they accumulate in the amount of 3,000, you automatically turn into a “Warcraft guru”, that is, you can take this very mentoring.
There were Pandaria mounts that people spent a lot of hours grinding, then they made a “remix” and sold all the unique mounts for tokens that are easy to farm. The meaning of uniqueness and rarity is lost. (And there are also talks about “remixes” of other additions)
Previously there were “First on the server”, and now the classics will be opened for the third time. What’s the point of getting something there if there won’t be any online soon (Hello “Chromie” and “Flamegor” with their talk about how everyone wants to switch to “firemeow”) The point of this race is already being lost.
There used to be guilds where you could just read an interesting chat that goes on almost non-stop, in a good-neighborly environment with a certain amount of friendliness and warmth. Now a guild is 1 pack in ds, and the chat is: “who’s in key?”, “who’ll craft?”, "[link of clothes]. That it exists, that it doesn’t.
I won’t talk about gear here, because it becomes obsolete with the release of a new season or expansion.
So what is the value of this game now, besides the “nostalgia” that the developers have been playing with for a long time over and over again, and then they announced something “not so new”: Eversong Woods in “Midnight” and “Northrend” (Oh, my God… It was in LK, it was in the SL pre-patch, in the “portals” of DF, in the “memories” of the TVW pre-patch. How much more can you do?) in “Titans”?
And what is the value of the player’s contribution now? (This is the most interesting question)
