So few years ago before BfA was even announced, a Chinese player Solicct correctly predicted both BfA and Shadowlands! Let’s revisit and have a look again:
“Today when I was reviewing the previous WoW expansions I suddenly realized that TBC’s lore consisted of two parts, the Dreaenor line and the Burning Legion line, leading to WoD and Legion expansions respectively. Which means 6.0 and 7.0 expansions were split from 2.0 expansion”.
"Therefore it is inferred that 8.0 and 9.0 expansions should be split from 3.0 expansion. 8.0 should correspond to the Old Gods line, 9.0 should be about WotLK’s Scourge line, we should see the new Lich King and Shadowlands stuff in it"
Keep in mind this post was made in September 2017.
He then continued with this thought process predicting the following:
From 4.0 (Cataclysm):
10.0 - Dragons
11.0 - Elementals
Both lines should come to an end.
From 5.0 (Pandaria)
12.0 - something to do with war between Alliance and Horde
13.0 - Sha line but the main villain should be the void lord
EDIT: Honestly think it would make more sense to close the Void Lords arc with 12.0 with Alliance/Horde story in the background rather than mixing it with Sha.
Between 8.0 and 12.0 the Void lords are the real villain behind all of the chaos.
“The Burning Legion first showed up in 2.0 and story line came to an end in 7.0 after 4 expansions. The Void lords first showed up in 7.0 and the story line should come to an end after 4 expansions which is 12.0”
So there you go! All the expansions plans for the next few years!
Pretty much this. If there were actually plans of far future expansions of WOW back in those days, those plans are most likely abandoned by the new writing team.
Well if that was the case then 10.0 will definitely not be about Dragons. Which I really doubt. I don’t see why the would move away from a very GENERAL layout.
Sure, they may claim some freedom in setting up future expansions or how they decided to end some story lines but they will definitely not abandon stories laid out in Cata and Mop for no reason.
Keep in mind each expansion is made with few next expansions in mind. That’s why we have those little things here and there that only make sense few years later.
Every expansion needs a setup. There’s absolutely zero reason why the would abandon/ignore all the set up that was already made for them years in advance.
If they completely ignore that they would have to drop expansions with completely new lore and villains. They just can’t create new lore with so much lore and unfinished stories already being in the game, literature and chronicles.
At that point it would be just better to make a new game.
What latest leak? There’s multiple. Most of them include dragon themed expansion. None of this can really be debunked until the actual announcement.
Unless you’re referring to that Red shirt guy post…then yeah, there’s too many questionable things in it. Doesn’t change the fact that the general theme of the expansion can still be true.
MOP? Mop has nothing to do with Shadowlands. It was WotlK. The general plan of ending that story arc, yes it was planned since then. Jailer himself most likely not.
There’s a difference between planning to continue/end a story and deciding how exactly it should go.
Considering they usually start working on new stuff 2 expansions ahead, I’m guessing Zovaal is Danuser’s creation considering he joined WoWs team around Legion
I was about to post this but looks like someone already did. The prediction has been correct for 3 expansions now. Hopefully this thread survives to 13.0 and we can dig it up again by then .
This is correct. Could you imagine the writers coming into a meeting and saying “hey, so we just made up this guy but we are gonna pretend it was all his planning all along”
And when asked how they would do it they said “huh, hadn’t thought about that. Idk lol maybe just like say they had demon spys or sumthin lol”
Then finishing with
“But at the end, lol, well say he was a good guy all along and someone else was pulling the strings!”
And the directors will be like “OK who?”
“Idk lol like a dragin or sumthin lol we’ll just make it up as we go idk LOL”
And the directors all laugh, and the writers laugh. And we cry. Quietly in the dark we sob uncontrollably as they abuse our childhood.
I mean, this is a triple A studio with a long history, they would never do something as ridiculous and outlandish with this game. They are professionals.
Honestly Warcraft is in an awkward time. I can’t really tell if they’re going to do a Disney expac or an Edge Lord xpac these days. It used to be easier to tell.
