2009 version of Warcraft Movie scenario

Some personal thoughts.

The titans ordering the cosmic powers themselves sounds a lot like the First Ones, since their origin supposedly precedes the “big bang”. The intro sequence could’ve also been Metzen’s idea because that was basically his take on WoW intro cinematic, but other devs were against it because the game isn’t about titans shaping the world or something like that, and they wanted to see their world they worked on represented in that CGI, hence what we got.

Azeroth being the “last world left to conquer” sounds like the Legion plot. The wave of corruption that discolors the planets also reminds me of Fel, but the wording with the stress on corruption also makes you think of the Void, heh.

The actual Warcraft movie had some similar footage with flying through the stars and showing Azeroth from orbit, but it was cut, and it was shown only in the trailers. But as far as I know, they weren’t going to show the titans, just space.

You know, while I drool at the very idea of CGI titans ordering worlds, well, starting a film with the narration about cosmic genesis that doesn’t really follow into the plot… is a bad idea. Hence why Metzen’s version of the intro CGI was shafted.

Another funny thing is that they wanted Lo’gosh to be a reverse Thrall to such a degree that he’s raised by the orcs and doesn’t know what it means to be a human. One thing I do appreciate is the writer trying to show many different races. But even that can fall short in this scenario since a human is the greatest warrior of the non-human continent. @_@

Admiral Proudmoore? I’ll let you guys poke fun at this because I had a blast thinking of all the other stuff.

Update. Should’ve chosen a prettier character because that’s some lvl 10 trial dude from a gazillion years ago with a rather spooky face. @_@

Thanks for sharing! That was interesting to read.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the Warcraft movie had been in development for 10 years before it was finally released (seriously, it was first announced in 2006, with the expected release date of 2009).

And even easier to forget that it has now been five years since the release of the Warcraft movie we DID get.
