What was the actual justification to permanently remove a mount after being available for only a couple weeks in the game? I don’t think I’ve ever seen an official explanation for it anywhere other than something along the lines of “here it is, it’s gone in two weeks.”
That ram needs to be made available to people again, instead of only to those who already bought it.
Simple.
If it wasn’t removed you’d probably not even care about it.
There needs to be a driving force to get players to engage in content. The reality is “This reward will be gone soon” is a very effective way to get participation up.
It’s so that those of us who were playing at that time and decided to get it could flaunt it over those that did not play then or did play in Brewfest '07 but didn’t get it for whatever reason. Just like the same for the Tyreal’s Charger and the annual pass promotion.
I’m just kidding and take any chance to promote the 60% Brewfest Ram as well as all other 60% rams and would like to see some updated models for them, since they are my favorite of the original racial mounts. Actually, IMO, the 60% Brewfest should be obtainable by anyone during each year’s Brewfest, though I think it should be harder to obtain than just a random drop from Coren Direbrew (or at least a drop chance closer to the former love rocket). There are some timed-exclusives that are harder to It’s the only plain, 60%-style ram available to horde characters (since it was made account-wide), and I’m all for more people riding more rams.
But…it’s just a barely noticeable changed coloring of the Brown Ram. It’s really only relevant at all in that 1. it’s a mount missing in many players’ collections , 2. it and its obtainable 100%-speed big brother are ride-able by horde, and 3. it was only available for a very short time (however, I do believe if you did buy the 100% speed mount in '07, you can still buy the 60% mount during Brewfest…I bought the 60% speed during '07 though and didn’t get the 100% until a Coren Direbrew drop years later).
It’s not that special outside of being rarer in retail than a lot of mounts…which is why I always like to propose that the Keg Pony’s kegs be applied to the 60% Brewfest mount like this image I posted back in BFA:
This works in some cases, but I don’t think Blizzard telegraphed that the 60% mount was being removed after that year, unlike things like Tyreal’s Charger where it was expected that it was only available for the Diablo 3 promotion.
I meant to post that as the dwarf here (because who better to talk about rams and Brewfest than a dwarf)…but I’m an idiot and was on my Highmountain…but she loves the 60% Brewfest ram too:
Everyone should get another chance at it (though, again, I think it should be harder to obtain than the fast ram and kodo), so that all the horde can ride rams into war!
Yes… I have it, can still buy it from the vendor and its such a bad mount… doesnt give any achievement nor does it look any good. It was just a happy accident and does not need to come back.
Well maybe thats just me then. I dont like rams and I dont like the look of it. Would I be bothered if I didnt have it? Maybe, but it has a mount description literally stating in “lore” for why its not be given out anymore.
“Brewers retired this mount from active advertising service after complaints that the beasts were “too temperamental” to control in major cities.”
They also never added the brewfest kodo later on. Only the swift one so maybe they instead of adding an equivalent… they just did not add the kodo and removed the ram and left only the 100% ones at the time in the game.
If there’s one thing I’m getting really tired of, it’s the game’s tendency to weaponize FOMO. It’s getting worse and more transparently mercenary over time.
I mean it’s not like the people who don’t have it is the sole reason why they do those dungeons to get the mount. It’s not like there’s people who actually want it but RNG wasn’t in their favor. Nah, couldn’t be that. /s
What is with people falsely assuming people wouldn’t care about something if it’s permanent?
I don’t think i and Op are being hyperbolic in suggesting that Maybe Blizzard should’ve told us it was a temporary mount from the get-go if they are going to remove it? Especially since other Hoilday mounts are staying? Because that’s really the problem, it was never meant to be a temporary mount like your AoTC Or Gladiator mounts.
FOMO shouldn’t be the sole driving force, because simply it’s “Uniqueness” has nothing to do with the merits of the mount itself.
