I’ve seen it elsewhere but it finally happened to me, was in a match at 2285 and my game crashed, by the time I got back I went from 2285 to 2085… are we even able to appeal that? down -200 is BRUTAL after 2k.
Next xpac they will come repo your car and house and lock your bank account if you ever dc again. Git gudder
Are your post always this bad? I’m flagging this.
I flagged you first!
-200 is truly too much
I feel sorry for the op
pvp community is dying for a good reason. if you pvp devs f players, players just f u back by leaving pvp.
I get Blizzard wants to punish and disincentivize people from leaving groups early, trolling, etc. But if their system can’t tell the difference between someone intentionally leaving and someone genuinely DCing, the penalty shouldn’t be that severe. Maybe the compromise would be losing double the cr the player would’ve lost from losing the match normally instead of losing a flat 200 rating?
I think players who DC should lose whatever the sum total of what their teammates lost mmr would be and their teammates should lose 0. For a loss.
If your team happens to win, you should gain 0.
I feel like -200 CR is too harsh considering you suffer MMR loss regardless, and it includes people who recover from a disconnect. Just hurts too many innocent players.
Tell me how would the system tell wether I pulled the plug on my router or I lost power at home ?
I agree. If I’m not mistaken there only two ways to get deserter. Manually leaving the match and accepting the penalty or a dc/closing the WoW client. I feel they could adjust something in the latter scenario. Maybe they add in a countdown before officially declaring the person is a deserter? Not sure what the time frame could/should be but I think it could help alleviate the punishment for DCs.
I’ve only had one DC during a Blitz. When I came back on, I lost the -200 CR I was expecting to lose…but I didn’t lose MMR. I gained all that CR back in my next two games.
That’s what I’m saying. If the system can’t tell, then -200 cr is too harsh imo.
But then you created an abuseable system.
I have dced once during an rss match snd I got the -150 I think. Yea it sucks but if it were like -50 many would just game the system.
Blizzsrd could improve consistency as there were times I dced during rss and I managed to log bsck in and continue but that one time I lost 150 I dced in like r2 and when I came back I had deserter.
How would they game the system? “This team is bad. If I leave early I’ll lose 20 cr, but if I stick it out till the end and we lose, I’ll only lose 10 cr”.
Because it already happens in other games. People will weigh the time “lost” sitting through an unfavorable lobby or simply griefing and just take the small punishnent. Current system is fine
Same. I DC’d the other day in the pregame lobby, when I logged back in the system replaced me with someone else and lost 210 rating. My “team” ended up winning the game. Sure, if I cost everyone a loss hit me with the punishment, but I wasnt even in the game and my DC didnt end up impacting it, felt like a bit much considering the most points Ive gotten in a win since the most recent changes to the MMR system was 20.
its possible for the battle.net client tell if you messed with the connection of your computer to the router, its also possible to tell if your router or modem was unplugged, but unless your modem supports querying via API or get requests, you can’t really tell if the modem was unplugged ISP side vs a legit ISP caused DC.
so while its not foolproof, it is possible to force someone to unplug the main ISP for their entire household to mimic a DC. i have to imagine a large crossover between people willing to fake a DC and people still living at home, so yanking the mainline to mom’s house and killing family netflix is probably a nogo for most.
In the scenario I posted, I think you have more to lose in terms of cr AND time lost if you leave vs sticking it out. -200 in the current system is not fine imo
To chime in… losing that much rating also better serves the wintraders, by tanking their rating in fewer games.
Yep,
Encountered this myself (200 loss after DC). Sometimes these things happen not real solution here as people will frivolously claim this if they make an exception.
Just have to grind it back again.
I agree it is harsh for what little gain there is.
