You touched on something that I’ve noticed as well. WoW players today have far less patience than the OG players. Back in the day, only a tiny number of gamers were clearing the latest raids. And most people were fine with that. They didn’t mind that their guild was still progressing through stuff… and will be in “progression mode” for the entirety of the game.
This time around in classic, people have zero patience for that. Back in TBC P2, most guilds were “stuck” on KaelThas and Vashj for multiple weeks… and people went nuts. So many people just gave up and stopped raiding. So many guilds imploded. Blizzard felt forced to nerf Vashj/Kael, because people couldn’t bear the idea of waiting a couple more months to clear them.
I have no idea how or why people’s mindset changed so much. Were they spoilt by 10 years of WoW handing stuff to everyone on a platter? Or is it a cultural thing where the next generation of gamers would rather quit than deal with failure? I really hope it isn’t reflective of society and Gen-Z as a whole, because that is insanely scary
