Alright - no you really pissed me off
No one will be 60 for AWHILE. And the person they plan on “helping” later on will most likely die if the 60 is not around because the lower level did not “learn” their class properly since they were “lead”.
HC will get you one way or another. It’s a matter of time.
I sure would not be wasting my time following a peon around…lol
Sounds pretty boring to me. To each their own thou right?
I’d rather just have a common ruleset in place that is adequate for a hc experience instead of just hoping for the best.
There is one: Don’t Die.
Everything else is Fluff.
Well, again, if that is the only criteria needed, then you are suggesting carrying is fine. For instance, in D4, you can just sit in town while you soak xp from your party. You call this HC.
but there is no carrying in wow hc servers
I am illustrating how your criteria is flawed, and there are actually more necessary variables to HC. You just don’t want to admit it.
Yep facts - I’ve “helped” many on Bloodsail, they usually die within minutes or hours after I stop “helping”.
I never suggested that.
I never said that, you are adding words to prove a moot point.
People will carry, so what?
A line I did mention you seemed to fail to understand… “To each their own” means it’s their choice.
Not to be dictated by anyone but themselves.
You are trying to write a book with blank pages. Seen these books since Beta 2004. Just …Move along.
You did, actually. You said the only requirement for hardcore is to not die. That allows carrying to happen. Unless you stipulate that carrying is not allowed. Which is illustrative of the fact I am trying to point out to you. There is more involved in hardcore than just saying “don’t die”.
There is no endgame.
I agree being carried cheapens the spirit of hardcore, but when it comes to how you are outfitted, I think there are levels that vary per individual. Getting to 60 even with the best gear attainable will be challenging, so I don’t think you can use one brush across the experience. If I play a mage and at level 15-16 I find a nice 2 handed sword, yeah, I might save that for a warrior. But if I (lol) get to 60 and I acquire tons of great greens and blues, even if I twink up another character to 60, I won’t be proud of it.
Decent post, but “Horde racials are far better than those of the Alliance for hardcore,” is utter nonsense.
I’d like to add switch zones often. It’s better to alternate zones then attempt that quest your not quite leveled for. I’ve been enjoying doing like all of northshire then running to the dwarf level 1-5 zone and getting to about 7 there. I finish up the zone then head back and finish up eleween and keep bouncing back and forth rather then risking hitting higher level mobs then I’m ready for. Classic means 2 mobs that are higher level then you could mean death.
A couple of follow-up comments from, moi, the Original Poster.
Tip #5: Stoneform is one of the better Alliance racials (certainly great for a Rogue in HC at any level), but any alchemist can learn Restorative Potion easily around level 40 and it’s the mobs in Felwood and the Plaguelands where that becomes really useful.
Tip #8 essentially says, “If you want to be successful, you need to manage Risk”.
Tip #13: On the PTR wands currently behave as I have described.
Tip #22: My belief is there will be significantly more Alliance than Horde. I also think it will be far more challenging for Alliance to get to level 30 than for Horde mainly because The Barrens (10-25) is a very safe zone.
After a couple of weeks on the PTR, I had ZERO deaths.
Troll Hunter Level 21
Tauren Shaman Level 26
Troll Mage Level 12
Undead Priest Level 16
Well mail boxes bearly work now so they don’t have to worry about that in HC
Did I say NO CAVES? In that case let me repeat this: NO CAVES…no exceptions
my tip - skip ep. lol and dont bother with araj in wp, in fact, avoid that entire town lol
The silo quest is pure torture.
-
Shadow priest is strongest solo pve hardcore class
-
Only go into caves when mobs are green
-
Best combo is not herb/alch but engi and get target dummies and stun/disorient nades
-
Fishing wreckage may give items you cant gather - dont sleep on fishing
-
Water quests mysteriously dc you, be aware. Some say the game thinks you’re flying so it disconnects you. Many theories on why this happens, just be aware it happens.
-
Cookie cutter meta builds don’t apply. For instance, Slight of Hand for rogues generally sucks in most scenarios, but is god tier for hc and could be the difference between life or death
-
Don’t die with cooldowns up, you don’t save a 60 minute spell for the next run.
-
Speaking of death, you’re most likely to die pre30. Before getting to 30, play slow. Once you get into mid 30s most classes have their powerful defensive/escape talents.
-
People are terrible at Gnomer and Ulda, There should be a psychological study on why these two instances gather the worst players. Beware.
-
Even grouping you’ll probably die on elite quests. Don’t trust your party.
-
Get a proximity addon so you know when something elite or much higher level is near you
-
Is a hard quest worth it? 3000exp reward = roughly 15 mobs farmed. Don’t tunnel vision quests, farming mobs is sufficient.
-
If you die, learn from it. Don’t get mad. The fun is in the leveling, not the endgame.
-
If you want to play post 60 and farm your bis, roll alliance. Horde hc generally lacks unless you’re well connected.
Wait, Tauren shaman is the best? Why?
Quite true, and you could milk it a bit further if you really wanted to. Could probably stay in the Barrens until you are done with RFK if you are doing dungeons.
I’m not a Shaman pro, but would say the extra HP that scales with all sources of Stamina and Warstomp are just good in general. I think the only class that a Tauren could be that I would pick something else is Hunter but Warstomp is good for all.
