If I make a new toon, in shadowlands pre-patch, I can choose to use any expansion as my leveling experience.
Each one provides a nice sampling of the experience of that expansion. A starter quest that gets you started on your adventure, and 1-8 starter dungeons that you can que up in. Legion likely fares the best.
But then the bad… When you start Cataclysm leveling experience, you are not starting on an Expansion, you will start in Eastern Kingdoms, its Cataclysm, and your stuck doing classic content, for the next 20 levels, nothing but classic dungeons.
If I sign up for any other expansion, I get to immediately start doing content having to do with that expansion, but with cataclysm I have to grind 20 levels of classic garbage.
Fact is this is going to limit how many players will be available to que up for those dungeons. All the other expansions get 40 levels, why only 20 cataclysm levels?
Cataclysm takes place partially in old world content.
I’m confused by your confusion.

If they were concerned about classic content, they should have made it’s own expansion section. Cataclysm is weighed down by the classic garbage
no other expansion is having to have classic’s garbage take up space. I want to do Cata dungeons from 10-50 just like Blizzard’s lead designer said I would be able to
ooooooooooooooooooooh i know what you mean now :o!!! So the zones that got revamped through the “cataclysm” is in the cata section of leveling? Thats some mighty BS. What about barrens, stonetalon, ashenvale, plaguelands silverpine and all that? Those aren’t tied to “classic”? is there even a classic option?!
Soooo he wants just Vasjir, Hyjal and Twilight highlands?
No, he’s confusing the rebuilt world that Cata came with, with “classic” which literally does not exist in the game. Outside of… playing on classic servers.

20 levels takes likes 2 hours though

yep it has its own server, so why is it stopping me from queing CATA dungeons at level 10, when someone choosing BFA tracks can que Freehold right away!!!
so if i want the normal zones of the old 1-60 i have to choose cataclysm?
Its also about having more players available to que cata dungeons, and get quicker que pops… cutting population in half restricts that alot
or just go out and level through them, it’s the same thing.

oh i forgot that was a choice lol. Yeah i like leveling through Durotar - barrens - ashenvale - stonetalon - southern barrens - thousand needles, then going to eastern kingdoms doing silverpine - athrai highlands, and all that basically the 1-30 zones on repeat for both continents
with a mix of dungeon spamming.

nope not anymore… its completely new… default is leveling 10-50 in BFA
for 1-10 you can level in the new shadowland’s start area, or your default start area if you have already leveled above 10; dk and dh have been changed considerably, they come out as 10’s and 8’s.
I mean, Cata is remade old zones so I get it. But i must admit I also expected to be able to go to Hyjal or Vash after choosing cata chromie time instead of being directed to the barrens or winterspring(why?)
You can literally chose to walk out into the world and do the quests. You don’t have to go to BfA unless it’s the first character on a new account. Even then I’m pretty sure you can just walk out of Org/SW and do the old quests anyway.

Hyjal, Deepholme, and Twilight Highlands were pretty entertaining zones to level through. If there was a way to do 10-50 in Cata’s new leveling zones, I’d probably do it at least once. Alas, the fact that the zones require flying for some quests means Blizz couldn’t make them doable below 30, unless they added things akin to Stormheim’s grappling hooks to the zones.
…which they should totally do, and now I’m kind of bummed they didn’t consider that.

Yes you can. You can level just the way we did before the prepatch. If you don’t use Chromie Time all areas will reach a cap and you will have to move on.
Without using Chromie Time caps are:
Vanilla (Cata) Zones: 10-30
Burning Crusade Zones: 10-30
Wrath of the Lich King Zones: 10-30
Cataclysm Zones: 30-35
Mists of Pandaria Zones: 10-35
Warlords of Draenor Zones: 10-40
Legion Zones: 10-45
Battle for Azeroth Zones: 10-50
Only new players who have never played before have to go through BFA on the first character.

good point! so what saddle up those wanting to play Cataclysm Dungeons with old classic garbage content. Cata dungeons are some of the best in the game IMO.
so why don’t I level using other expansions’ dungeons?
Burning Crusade – antiquated almost as much as classic wow
Wrath of Lich King – Violet Hold ruins everything
Warlords of Draenor – don’t get me started, i quit wow because of this
Legion - Violet Hold again, don’t they get this is a bad idea?
BFA - i just did this content, i am NOT leveling a toon on this!!
this leaves only 1 choice besides Cata… Mists of Pandaria, how quickly will this get old?
Cata open world (EK / Kalimdor) is nothing like Classic
OP what are you smoking and do you have enough to share?
