I mean you can’t call this a good system with a straight face.
This is a good system.
2 lockouts. Not 2 weeks. Can be done in 2 days if you planned it smart
Could be worse
I disagree.
Plus digital faces don’t count.
It’s easier to make a new character.
Maybe don’t go back and forth then.
That’s the entire point of the covenant system, make one choice and stick with it. Sure, if you change your mind and find that the covenant you picked isn’t one you really like, you can change it easily to a different one, but they’re not revolving doors.
A case of looking before you leap. The information was always out there.
There’s constructive criticism and then there’s… that.
That seems pretty steep and makes me just wanna take the week off if everything I’m going to do is going to go nowhere .
I’m just curious what content you think you can’t do for a week without a “bis” covenant? The greater majority of players aren’t pushing anything over a +15 or heroic raiding, you don’t need bis for 15’s or heroic raiding. It’s hilarious that players on the forum seem to think they do but very few in-game hold that belief. lol
Yep. “Meaningful choice” loses all meaning when there are terms and conditions put upon us to change our mind.
The meaningful part of the choice should be the pros and cons that the choice gives us, not the arbitrary crap we have to go through to change it.
Like, holy crap Blizzard. Why? The story can have distinct groups and you don’t have to tie the players to them as if it’s actually in the story. Those who value RP/story are more than free to do so by choice, and those who value performance can min max. Neither camp is hurt by being able to change whenever you want.
Tired of blizzard acting as if we don’t have the capacity to evaluate the options available to us and choose what is meaningful to us on that basis. I value performance. I will play whatever covenant is best for my spec for important content. I would also love the ability to try the other covenants in bgs or m+ or raid farm for fun when performance is no longer the primary concern.
The covenant system quite literally restricts the amount of the game one player can enjoy for no reason that is apparent to me. Cheers.

So you basically just want a talent that you can switch whenever you’d like. That’s not a meaningful choice.
Or maybe we should voice our opinions to blizzard when we don’t like something. It’s a crap system, everyone including them knows it.
If it was a crap system that they didn’t like, they’d have already changed it.
They haven’t, so it’s pretty clear that they don’t see it as a ‘crap system’.

Then when it’s no longer a concern…change your covenant. Simple
There’s constructive criticism and then there’s… that.
And then there’s me with this:
When I think of player’s regretting their change:
Meaningful does not mean the same think as permanent/semi-permanent. The “meanginful” choice being made there is to choose the optimal ability in every situation possible because setting myself up for best performance is what I’m interested in. If that type of choice doesn’t mean anything to you it does not make it void of meaning.
I tried to make it very clear that the system that enforces the least amount of restriction on players is the better choice.
With the currently available system allowing free swap is the only way I can see out of the hole they’ve dug themselves with covenants.
Ideally, these trash borrowed power systems would be scrapped in general, but that is not realistic. I was attempting to present the way that would accommodate the most playstyles with changing as little of the current system as possible.
Also, when you’re able to swap talents/covenants freely the choice to swap for a fight/dungeon or not to swap is the meaningful choice. That’s what I would enjoy being able to do.
People who do content that cannot possibly have consequences for any choice you make all of a sudden felt it was important for consequences to exist for everyone else so the game has “meaning”
Even though everything is inconsequential to their endgame
No. It’s not simple. It’s a busy work process that adds no value to the game. I don’t switch because I don’t want to waste time in something that serves no purpose in the first place. If lore is the concern an optional skip is fine.
You said for fun. So it wouldn’t be busy work. Swap and forget about it. Play around with the covenant ability with no concern to performance or consequence ?
This is the inherent problem with this expansion, it almost forces people to play alts. Covenant switching isn’t really a hinderance as much as it’s just annoying and unnecessary.
