“i cant get loot fast enough for my liking” is not a time gate.
a time gate is when blizzard specifically locks you out of something until they say so, example: the pathfinder garbage in retail.
They changed it to 2 tier tokens 3.5 months post release lol
Considering most people just want certain pieces (if not all of it) of their tier sets, it was logical for them to make the decision not make a guild need to kill a boss 25+ times (with perfect luck) to get everyone that piece. 6 months with perfect luck to finish a set… yea, that makes perfect sense, because phase 2 will totally take 5~ more months to release. This also means tier 5 will drop one token as well, so the same crap logic will then apply there.
2 tokens isn’t instant gratification, it is simply a more reasonable amount of loot per kill. TBC was praised (after the change) for being a far more enjoyable looting experience than vanilla (which was absolute piss I might add), but it still took plenty of time to get everything you needed.

How does the difficulty matter here? You can only kill them once per week.

2 tokens drop will eventually happen.
From 2.1 patch notes:
All 25 man raid bosses who drop set tokens will now drop an additional token.
This is just wrong. The changes were made to ALL content, including SWP. It wasnt a ‘keep doing old content’ change, it was a balance change. And in 2.4 we are using all balance changes.

Regarding the actual topic, we are getting tier tokens per boss next phase, which isn’t much longer. For those us still struggling to finish tier sets, this will be a welcomed change.
