Except they are. The base game is usually 40 or 50 bucks. To get the mount, it’s usually 70 to 80. And unless you physically went to Blizzcon, that was $40 bucks you spent for the mount because every thing they say ends up on YouTube about 5 minutes after they say it.
Look dude, I’m not saying shop mounts are bad. I have every single shop mount, pet, toy, transmog and toy. But… I’m not purchasing this stuff and going “microtransactions are bad!”
I just don’t understand how you buy all the CEs since MoP, a handful of store mounts, and a Blizzcon mount then say “I hate the shop” It makes no sense.
No kidding. What the devil is going on with that? You can literally count the polygons in its armor.
i guess a mixture of jealousy and de-appreciated value. I’m jealous that these super cool, high effort designed mounts are just cash shop items and not earnable in game. On top of that, in my eyes alone it devalues the significance of the effort and the mount itself by how it is obtained.
But Blizzard did make them earnable in game with tokens.
Maybe not right now because the prices are kind of crazy but a few months ago tokens were much, much cheaper.
They’ll go back down and it’ll be easier to purchase them for gold.
tbh i never figured out how to do that but i guess that is a solution.
There’s an option on the AH that says “WoW token” or something like that. Just buy it when they get cheaper.
Mounts are 2 tokens (equivalent of $30.)

You read into what you wanted to read into. No, you can’t JUST have a sub with tokens and get the free mount. You need to have a recurring 6 or 12 month sub. Adding token time after that is irrelevant. It’s the recurring 6 or 12 month sub that gets access to the free mount.
