very fun and compelling gameplay out of mana doesnt matter hit penance anyway

You could attack the squish priest that is doing a 3s long interruptable/push-backable channel with a cd…

Two seconds, likely armored by PW:S, and with 70% push-back resist. Warriors can’t pummel at this level bracket. Warlocks don’t have Tongues yet. Mortal Strike doesn’t exist yet.

As someone who has an SoD Priest, Penance is definitely OP and it limits the design and creativity of later runes if Priest has to be balanced around having Penance.

You might be speaking from the Alliance perspective, but I’ve found priests aren’t really the issue when I can run around doing purgebot gameplay. The issue is the rest of the rando team in WSG not having hands.
I’ll usually end up with 200~ dispels at the end of a match. My meters generally only show 20 combined from other players, friend and foe. People just don’t know their buttons.

Yes, ignore prayer of mending. keep hitting everyone around the priest as well, don’t focus it down. Don’t purge it, don’t mana burn it.

Ally doesn’t have shaman purge, so PW:S can’t be instantly removed easily, that’s true. If you don’t purge PW:S, Penance won’t be pushed back by autos in time for it to do all or more of its healing.

The solution for alliance is actually in your own priests, who could be pressing their dispel magic button.
Don’t get me wrong, I despised disc priests in retail (and the design of healers in pvp in general) for the longest time precisely because of what you’re saying—I was playing a class without dispels, and had to rely on my PUG team having hands.
Most players are, unfortunately, handsless.

You may be surprised how often this ends up being the case. User error accounts for a decent chunk of complaints that people have toward any of the classes. That said, priest is pretty clearly the superior healer option compared to the others currently. With the damage numbers of many things being buffed recently, it might still be necessary for them to have their current healing output. Especially when they can easily be countered by well timed ccs. A single mage can shut down two priests near each other for a 10 whole seconds on its own every 30 seconds. A lot of people can die in 10 seconds without healing.

Getting shamans to purge PW:S is impossible

The counter to Priests, having Priests. Truly a wonderful meta.

:smirk:

I get your point, I have a Priest so I know they have dispel, but lol.

Hopefully Mages get spellsteal in a later phase.

This has been my experience too

Yet… Yet…

Everyone is being so shortsighted. This isn’t a level 25 game. It’s a level 60 game. All the people yelling for nerfs to various classes at 25 will definitely impact those classes when leveling continues.

Wonder how many those Druids, Shamans, Warriors, Rogues, and Mages will come back to the forums when they are crazy OP at level 60 and say “you know what, we’re really OP, can you please nerf us and buff those Priests and Hunters you nerfed into the ground at level 25 and didn’t scale well at all due to that?”

If you say you would we know you’re lying. You’ll just eat up all that OPness with an elated grin on your face.

are we currently locked to 25 or 60
i didnt realise changes made to balancing while we’re locked to 25 were set in stone and impossible to change in the future thanks for the heads up

You haven’t played WoW long enough then to know how Blizzard buffs and nerfs work.

They did say (on twitter) that they review class changes that are needed every week for season of discovery

And is it too much to ask that the small multi-billion dollar indie company save a pre-adjustment copy of their work, so they can easily restore it going into next phase so that meta can develop naturally?
I think the first change they should make before touching penance numbers is adding an actual castbar to its channel. It might encourage people to start kicking it, since their only way to know that it’s a kickable spell is out-of-game resources (just like most dev communications these days, funnily enough).

I’m playing a Priest now. I’m also playing a Mage.

I care about the health of the game.

:man_shrugging:

You don’t have to believe me, I know what I know.

I also rolled a priest, and I find Pom and penance wickedly overpowered and unfun.

Not to mention they are literally a port from future xpacs. Which imo should have been a no go for this season. Discovery this new ability you have played with before!

Disc’s load out is complete compared to other class kits at 25. Disc has access to a great spec with 14/2 that gives a ton of utility up front compared to other classes that won’t come online until 40. Balancing around 25 isn’t the answer as the damage of some classes at 40 is going to rocket. Just wait til these warriors have access to intercept, whirlwind, sword spec and MS next bracket. Priests are going to need that PoM and penance to stand a chance.

Or they could nerf them, and then at 40 re-evaluate. No reason for them to be op all of phases 1.
