Just wanted to report a couple issues after a week or so of continuous issues.
The first bug is with the Ashes of Embersoul trinket - I’ve noticed multiple times (mainly in raids) when using it on a longer boss fight that the 2nd time i go to use it once off cool-down, i get a UI warning saying I cannot equip that item while in combat, even though I see it currently equipped and had waited 2 minutes (as opposed to the 20/30 second timer when equipping an on-use trinket before being able to use it). I have noticed this issue for at least 2, maybe 3 weeks, so before pre-patch.
the 2nd so far I’ve only noticed with the Nokhud Offensive mythic keystone dungeon. I’m sure this issue is related to many other connection-type issues that have probably been reported (as this seems to be some sort of inability to maintain connection to servers), but every time i complete that dungeon (specifically as my demon hunter for some reason) I am unable to hearth at the end of it. then realize i can’t leave party, everyone is running in place, etc etc. although I’m able to still communicate with party members. i also am unable to manually exit the dungeon so i have to close the application, log out of blizzard, re-log back in and even then it still can take several tries of doing that before I’m able to leave or cast my hearthstone.

By any chance do you have a 2nd ashes from last season in your bags still? I ran into your issue when I replaced ashes yet forgot to delete the old one while using a macro for it.
1st question: no i do not have a 2nd trinket. my DH is an alt, so i just purchased the trinket w/ bullion.
2nd question: no, i simply clicked, dragged and drop the trinket into my action bars. i only use 1-5 on my key binds, the rest are custom bindings. there is no need for a macro because, well, its just the trinket. someone said to make a macro (/use Ashes of Embersoul) essentially, and see if i still have any issues with that. personally i don’t care enough to try that, i also shouldn’t have to do that but i guess it would be worth a shot. mainly i just wanted it known is all. i barely play that alt, just happened enough for me to realize “i barely play this alt, why is this happening so often.”
Thing is, my paladin has one too and i play that alt way more, yet its only happened once, maybe twice with his ashes trinket. so… kind of hard for me to test any troubleshooting. but again i shouldn’t have to troubleshoot. I would think it’d be pretty important because its no different from a “I can’t use that yet” voice line from your toon when you try to use a spell that’s off CD. Blizz would be all over that I’d imagine. I want to believe it’s a coding issue on their end but nobody I’ve asked in my guild or anything has had this problem. It’s just weird because it’s ONLY with the ashes trinket and it does it with both of my alts - a horde DH and alliance pally.
Did you happen to have another on-use trinket equipped at the time on either character? I had weird issues with my manic grieftorch trinket. It would constantly tell me I couldn’t do that yet even though I confirmed via my character pane, action bar, an addon that it was available and I was not GCD locked. It was so clunky and terrible to use and others simmed higher, so I swapped it out. I had an ashes trinket afterwards that I don’t have any problems with. At first it was in a macro with my 2-min CD, but after prepatch, I had to stop using the CD and now use it from the action bar as a standalone.
The most notable thing from my bug report looking back is that I did have two on-use trinkets equipped at the time of issue and typically used the other trinket first with my CD. I did ensure that I staggered them and it was not a CD issue as the trinket was available to use, I’m just wondering if having the two equipped was causing the problems.
The first time you put trinket on toon…
You need to wait for the use to end.
After that it should be able to use without waiting, because it is equiped.
If you do not have that trinket equiped and you place on your bar it does nothing.
I do not think it works the first time if it is not equiped yet… That icon will just put it in place, but not use the trinket.
No, my other trinket is Augury.

No, I stated that in the OP. Simply stated I’m aware of the initial timer when you equip a use trinket (usually 20-30 seconds) but the thing is that’s not going to be an issue when i pop it on pull in a boss fight, then 2 mins later when it’s off CD and i go to use it again it says “cannot equip items while in combat,” that’s a different story. i simply stated that I’m aware of the on-equip cooldown so that blizz isn’t like “have you tried equipping the item!” or something, but when I’ve spent 45 minutes in VOTI or im an hour and a half into Aberrus, a 20 second equip cooldown clearly wont be an issue, especially if i just watched the CD go from 2 minutes, to 10 seconds, to 5, 4, 3…
