2 of the same pet

Been trying to figure out how to have 2 (exactly the same) pets which are the same. No matter what I do can’t get it to work. Been to a stable master put all pets I don’t want to inactive. Leaving the 2 pets in active (1 and 2). Go to my Talents to make sure I have Animal Companion selected. Only one of the 2 pets will appear. I can’t get both of them to appear. I’ve been surfing the web and can’t find the answer to my problem.

Your animal companion is the pet in slot 1 of your stable. Make sure when you call your pet that it is the pet in slot 2. If you call slot 1, you won’t get a second pet.

Blizzard logic.

Does the essence swapper still work? It used to do exactly what the op wanted, but i think they nerfed it after legion.

The only way to have 2 pets that look the same active at once, is to tame 2 pets of the same type.

1 pet, you call out as usual. The other, you place in the first stable slot, when you visit a stable master. And when you use the Animal Companion-talent, this will allow both those beasts to be out at the same time.

The Essence Swapper was only meant for Hati in Legion as it was an extension to our Artifact Weapon. It was never intended to work on regular beasts(changing their appearance).

Fantasy-wise, it worked on Hati because Hati was a being made up of pure energy, energy you could “re-shape” with the Essence Swapper.

Thank you for the help. I think I tried calling pet 2 first but only got one pet to appear. I’ll try it again. I used my Hunter this time to ask/answer.

Some times I feel so stupid. I thought the bottom 10 spots were for inactive, not the stable. I had read someone say that the bottom slots were inactive so I never put one of my twin pets in the stable (thinking it inactive) and it kept bringing up the other pet I have that I didn’t want. Now I realize that I need one twin pet in the left 5 spots (top spot) and one in the stable (top left spot) and it works! But dang. Tried for close to 2 hours to get it to work, reading this and that, which makes me feel dumb. Some days…

Well, technically those pets you put in your Stables become inactive. Meaning you have to visit a Stable Master if you ever want to access those pets again(play with them).

The only exception to that is if you use the Animal Companion talent and place 1 pet in that first stable slot on the first page in your stables. Then this will cause said pet to be summoned together with whatever pet you call out manually.

Awesome! Enjoy.

By the way, the Stable has multiple pages. It’s not just 10, it’s 200. But only the first slot is used for Animal Companion, everything else is effectively just pet storage.

Thank you Xaedys. Good to know.

thank you so much for explaining exactly how you did this. i was doing exactly the same thing

Did the same, luckily came across your post, so no 2 hours here

The easiest way I found to accomplish this is to have the pets you want to be able to summon while you are out in your “Active” slot at the stable master. The pet you want to be your second pet should be the first one in the first slot in the other section. As someone said before the only way to have two that look the same is to have two of the same animal and have them in their spots.

this, this helped me figure out how to do 2 Huolon as pets

You want the pets you want in your active slots and for the second pet it needs to be in the 1st slot of the 1st page of your pet stables.

Just posting it now because no one else has.

I suggest using Improved Stable Frame addon to have a nice big wide window with ALL your pets at once… Check on CurseForge

1 pet should be your main active pet and the other copy should be in the very first slot of the stable (your second pet will copy the stable appearance)
