2 M+ Rants

First, why does all the M+ gear have vers/mastery for stats? This wouldn’t be an issue, but the change to the catalyst stats makes it suck a lot. Way too many M+ pieces have awful stats. The catalyst change is not cool.

Second, which dev is in love with knockbacks? Please stop with the knockbacks. Especially when bosses spawn. You know what sucks? Trying to sit down and drink as a healer just before the boss fight starts only to have your drinking interrupted by a boss doing the cliche super hero jump and knocking you back 20 feet. It’s really annoying.

The Catalyst change was horrible, I agree.

At least before the catalyst change you could at least get stats you need. Idk why they changed this core functionality.

They likely changed it due to the cantrip armor from raid but I hate it too. I guess at least holy priest rarely needs to drink this season, I feel for those who do.

They changed it primarily because some people (basically just Brewmaster monks) complained about sub-par stats, and wanted to pretend that “BiS” isn’t a real thing unless they can get perfect stats.

Ergo… Blizzard changed the Catalyst to appease an unappeaseable crowd of people. I dunno why they did that, considering it made the thing worse for everyone including Brewmasters that understood basic grammar and logic. Meaning that the only people who “benefit” from this change are… people who like to pretend that they understand words?

I honestly dunno, it was a beyond bonkers dumb decision though.

Theoretically speaking, they could’ve changed the Catalyst so those items would still be able to be catalysed without losing any additional effects. Meaning I don’t really buy that’s the reason, as it would be an insanely bizarre technical limitation if these were somehow tied together.

Because it removed the need to have all stat distrobutions in the loot pool while at the same time not having the stat distrobutions from the tier converts in the loot pool. By making the change it forced them to move the stat distrobutions from the second order loot to the first order loot.

Interesting, but as always blizzard changes things for the loudest people and make things worse for everyone

Sort of, but the people were being loud about certain appearances not being available via direct drop so they needed to take steps to normalize using charges to get them. More than one thing was going on there.

Lots of people were complaining about losing their optimal stat pieces they farmed by using the catalyst.

So now we have this.

You dont have to sit where the boss lands, just an FYI

Well, if you’re trying to sneak in a quick drink before boss combat starts yeah you do have to sit. The group is going to attack the second the boss lands rather than wait for the healer to start drinking again.

Maybe they could give people a choice. Have it cost Adventurer Crests to choose to keep stats or the other way around and cost to change stats?

how?

i couldnt

its better for me in every way possible

i no longer am locked into having bad stats on my tier set

It’s worse for me in every way possible. The gear I’ve gotten so far in my limited runs is all vers/mastery. I need haste/crit.

I’d vote for a choice. Make it cost to keep or change stats with Adventurer Crests.

shrug

I was told it was worse for me. Just responding that it was not worse for me.

Oh, I know. Just was tossing out the other side and wondering if that might be a decent option. I figured I’d shove my two cents in.

I mean. we are just asking for rerolls on gear at that point. which will drastically benefit some over others.

i feel like there are a lot of assumptions that the gear would be given stats we want in a reroll. and when its not, we’d just get more complaints

i think this system is better in every way possible. you didnt get any options on stats before. now you do.

i struggle to see how “set items i cant change in the previous system” are any different than “using whatever I find in the current”. both ways, you have to deal with what you got. this way gives you incentive to chase after ideal pieces. the previous did not.

Not really. Just a single choice between: do you want the stats we put on the tier pieces or do you want the stats that were on the pieces you picked up?

We’ve always told people that two things exist in lieu of reforging stats:

  1. The Catalyst, because it changed the stats.
  2. Crafting, because you choose your stats.

Now… it’s crafting or farm the crap out of something specific and pray.

I don’t get choices now.

i mean. yes. thats a reroll though.

You are changing the stats on your gear. Through an option. While keeping the tier bonus. Something that was not available previously.

it doesnt count as “changing the stats” akin to reforging if you dont get a say. You are forced to change the stats. As far as tier is concerned, the stats before catalyst are irrelevant.

our current option is the closest thing to reforging we have had.

please lets not go this route.

you get the choice of which legs to cata.

you get the choice to farm ideal stats

It’s not random. It’s one of two choices of stat.

The stats on the piece of gear I was catalyzing in previous season changed. Through the option of Catalyzing the piece. While keeping the tier bonus.

I’m not following.

They aren’t, though. They’re the stats I’m stuck with now. All I’m doing is adding a set bonus to some pieces and getting nothing for gameplay value out of off-set pieces.

How? The stats don’t change. I don’t understand.

Delve legs or Delve legs. There is no choice.

  1. That was what I just said earlier: the only options to get stats we want are to farm the ever living crap out of stuff and hope for the best or craft.
  2. I do not get that choice. I have nothing to farm for such things.

And I’m also not asking to get a choice of stats. Just make it whatever is baseline on tier or whatever dropped.

its random within the context of what the devs decide to put there.

once the devs lock in their choice, that we have no say in, we have to hold to it

i am saying that the “stats changing” arent relevant. Because you never had the option to use that gear with the stats they came with for tier.

If your cata legs (for example) had mastery and vers. Your tier only had mastery and vers. You didnt look at the legs and be “i want my tier, but they have crit/haste. i wont change those stats”

i am referring to previously.

now the stats matter. and you arent stuck with them. because you can change them.

previously you couldnt

For helm, I have 4 different options for tier just from m+. Ignoring delves and raids

Previously. I had 1 option for tier.

Being able to have 4 different options and using another cata item is closer to reforging, than “you only get 1 option”

forgetting dungeon legs. raid legs.

what is baseline on tier?

its whatever the devs randomly assign. there is no balanced baseline. my tier last season was full of my worst stats.
