I’d really enjoy if monks could use or Xmog a 2 handed sword, i love the idea of a leather wearer with a 2hander (staff and polearm already works) but i want a sword, Anyone else of this opinion perhaps??
Someone wants to play a samurai
Not entirely wrong there i’ll admit
Samurai wear plate armour not leather… So Arms warrior is 100% samurai not a monk.
Actually samurai armor is leather plates in chainmail so it’s not even close to plate armor
Actually your 100% wrong, real armour used by real samurai has no leather at all. You watch to much anime and don’t read enough actual history (wiki doesn’t count).
Samurai wear layered plates of low carbon steel… called “Plate armour”. These steel plates are used in combination with silk. Direct quote from the current manufacturer of historical armour from Japan. "over 32 different hand-spliced steel plates, individually riveted together. "

Chain armour is an under coating similar to a gambeson of Europe and not consider actual armour. Still that is made of silk and not actually chain but steel plates in a circle fashion… Think of a bunch of american quarters sewn onto a silk shirt. Still though no leather.

This has been my TED Talk come again when we discuss who actually invented the fist weapon for combat Romans with the Cestus or India with the Katar. (Yes, I teach history for a living).

I didn’t read any further as you lost me at that misused word.
Open the video and in the description
“Japanese armour was generally constructed from many small iron (tetsu) and/or leather (nerigawa) scales (kozane) and/or plates (ita-mono)”
Last paragraph.
Man, should really read all the info of things before you link it.
They even were known to use shark skin in the craft of their arms.
Direct cherry picked quote about the helmet and even then didn’t get much of a description.
“For example, a single helmet can consist of over 32 different hand-spliced steel plates, individually riveted together”
It doesn’t even go on to say anything else about it.
“The Gashira class features a more traditional Gendai design over kachi class and include features such as, real animal hair, genuine leather, removable or interchangeable nose, brass fittings, shoulder padding with kikko (armor plating), opposable thumbs, leg support on haidate, extra materials, fittings, riveting, lacing and included yoroi bitsu (storage / display box) which comes with a stand.”

Is that like when my Football coach was the history teacher?
Though your right, your argument is dramatically lessened by insulting your opponent.
But he isn’t right is the really funny thing
He is right though.
Samurai wore plate armor. Leather scales are for foot soldiers called bushi but they are not samurai. Bushi are peasants conscripted into military service under a samurai.
Samurai is a birth status they wore the best in armor which for the time was plate made of Iron and Steel.
That should be common knowledge. Samurai, Knights, Crusaders, Legioners, Chen Imperal Army, and pretty much any higher class warrior used plate in some fashion.
He tried to say there was no leather in the construction of the armor.
When in fact leather was the base.
Even linked things from the website he originally linked.
Just because the Obi or belt is leather and the straps to hold it on are leather doesn’t make the armor into leather.
The actual armor parts are iron/steel. So he is correct.
The things that the plate is put into a lot of times was leather. The website itself even breaks it down, it’s more than that.
Hell just taking a quick google and looking at various sources they all say leather was used a lot as the base material, using silk laced cord to adhere the plates to the leather.
This is one of those didn’t look into the info nearly enough.
By no means am I saying they wore “just leather”, but to say leather was a minor component is just wrong.
wow, topic got off track pretty quickly. Back to the original question, does anyone else besides me want to use 2 handed swords at least as an xmog option besides me?
I think 2h swords would look amazing as an xmog.
But I have this sneaking feeling that blizzard is going to back track on the ww gets to use a 2h. So far, on the alpha it doesn’t work and neither does brewmaster dual wielding. I hope it goes like they said it would and allow it, but we are a few builds in and it still doesn’t work on alpha.
Also Samurai use plate armor. It’s not up for debate, go to any museum and actually look at their Samurai displays. The armor parts are metal. A belt and straps being made out of leather doesn’t change it from plate armor… Even Knights held their plate armor together with bits of leather strap but that doesn’t change the fact it is called plate armor with the armor part being metal.
They better not go back on the whole 2hand thing!
2hand sword wont happen people. Are there even 2hand agility swords in the game? I would be totally fine if we could xmog 2hand swords though
They first need to fix the whole fist-weapons disappearing. I wanna see my monk fist weapons placed at my side when i’m not using them!
I know Hunters get 2h swords as an Xmog option, and monks can use most of the same weapons (polearms mostly I guess for survival hunter) that’s why i want the same option for monks
But… surv hunters can mog 2H swords…
Who cares what surv hunters can transmog. I already said i’d be fine with monks being able to use 2hand xmog. But seriously blizzard wont do this unless something drastic happens for all classes. I don’t think WW has ever been able to use 2hand swords as well. Hunters always could.
