I did a bit of digging but couldn’t find answers to these straight forward questions, so forgive me because I’m sure they’re out there.
1.) Is the 3 minute mage going to be a thing again or will trinket be non-stackable? The ZG trinket + Garr trinket = you one shot anything. Seemed pretty broken, but hey, that was classic.
2.) Are all in-game mods going to be allowed? I remember for the 1st year+ on classic, mods were nonexistent but then by Naxx raiding they were very prevalent.
Basically, they do plan to allow addons. However, functions that may have been available in vanilla that could be used for automation of play won’t be included. Additionally, modern addons that could work against the goal of building social community in WOW Classic are ones they may be suspicious of and deliberately break.
So addons automatically figuring out who needs a curse removed won’t work that way, and addons like oQueue that mimic the Group Finder they’ve already decided will not be part of WOW Classic may be intentionally broken.
Op number 2 is wrong. I played wow starting November the year it cane out. I was using addons by the 3rd month because i didn’t know any better. I mainly used omen and xperl.
1: think they changed that during vanilla where they don’t stack, so not sure where they will go with that.
2:addons that don’t automate the game will be aloud.
Side note. Didn’t Tivoli from the guild nurfed make addons? If so then they would have been around instantly or almost instantly from launch.
Current information indicates they are basing the gameplay around patch 1.12. Since the shared trinket cooldown was added in patch 1.10 it’s expected to be in place on launch.
Many trinkets will now trigger a cooldown equal to the duration of their effects that will prevent simultaneous use of more than one of these trinkets. The Trinkets affected include the Zandalarian Hero Charm, Zandalarian Hero Badge, Zandalarian Hero Medallion, and most all the other Trinkets available from Zul’Gurub, Earthstrike, the Talisman of Ephemeral Power, and the level 50 class quest trinkets such as the Devilsaur Eye.
As Eilethalua said in her post. Addons that automate gameplay such as decursive are going to be disabled. For the record I was using several addons very early into the release of Vanilla. One of the UI addons I used was Cosmos and a lot of people used the Thottbot or was it Allakhazam item drop rate uploader.
This is so true. I guess at the end of the day players are broken up into three categories.
Play the game without quest help.
Look up complex quests on something like WoWHead.
Use Questie in game.
It’s a question of how you want to quest. I’ve done all three and I think it really depends on what the player wants out of the game. This time around in Classic I personally will be trying to stick to 2.
At this rate that’s what everyone will be doing considering we have no beta and no release date so nobody has any idea of the api classic will use to actually make Addons lol.
As someone above mentioned the on use trinkets were changed during late Vanilla so they couldn’t be activated at the same time, with the 3-min mage mentioned as a reason why.
I recently was digging around on an old external Hard drive and found an old back up copy of my WoW interface folder from May 2006. It had 17 different add-ons that I was running at the time and that didn’t include some raid add-ons like Threat Meter and CTA Raid Assist that I started using that summer when I started raiding.
Yes, I used the Nurfed UI through late Vanilla. I remember his name listed as the creator.
The 3 minute mage came also from POM being on a 3 min cool down and requiring 21 points in arcane, it was pom + pyro, trinkets just made is suck that much more.
Yeah me too… I’m actually going to play the game unlike in retail… Until I get p|ssed off and resort to Google. I’m pretty sure I can’t remember the quests from 2005.
