1v1ing Soul link warlocks is not recommended

I wanna tell a story on what ive seen with my own eyes on why you should never 1v1 soul link/shadowburn warlocks.

First of all im not preaching for any changes or adjustments, i think everything that was in vanilla 2004-06 should be the same in classic without question.

K, now thats out of the way lets talk about the story.

I remember doing an AB one time as a tauren druid. My team was unfortunately loosing so i decided to go prowl mode and take a look around. When i went up to lumber mill i saw only one warlock, this guy looked like he was full T3 and a ton of hp. I couldnt tell exactly but im estamate that this human lock had a good whopping 8-10k hp. I watched this guy kill 5 people alone. There was a hunter, 2 rogues, a mage and a low geared warlock as well. All these poor, poor souls popped everything in the book and STILL lost, but that monsterous, semi god-like warlock had to pop everything as well including soulstone. He literally oblitterated everyone in just 2 dots and some shadowburns. That hunter literally just stood there as the warlock was just eating him alive like a spider eating a lady bug, and those 2 rogues couldnt stun him because he popped a living action potion and rocket helmet stunned one of the rogues as he ate up one of them then turned around and whipped the other one, like a giant demon in hell taking its giant whip and just electricute whip the guy off the wall be was trying to climb up. I know when somebody uses it im not a new player. He just dotted the mage and other warlock and they just suddenly fell.

3 days later, pretty much the same thing happened again but this time it was 5 rogues. Some of you are probably not going to believe me without providing a sort of evedence but thats okay, i understand. I wish it wasnt true myself…all those poor rogues just fell after the warlock yet popped another living action potion and just put 2 dots on everybody. I dont know how much crit he has but his shadowburn, even as tank spec, hit them pretty hard and same as death coil. And then they all just slowly fell as the warlock still had like 15% hp after popping soulstone and 2 voidwalker shields from fel domination. I was heartbroken to see this. 5 rogues, (2 of them had decent gear on) fallen to a HUMAN warlock, and we all know how junk humans are in pvp. I was smart to stay in stealth because i knew what was going to happen and im not stupid.

This goes to show that not all god-like players are streamers or youtubers. I dont think i wanna know this guy in real life. He must be a serious, brutal neckbeard that can do anything he wants in pvp and theres nothing you can do about it but try to outrun him

My advise, if that warlock doesnt take as much dps as hes supposed to, run and dont stop. Some warlocks like this demon from hell, its gonna take an entire raid a real good coordination and timing on what to do.

Maybe one druid that was sitting in stealth might have helped turn the tides of those battles.

rogue tanks…

95-99% of locks wont even know how to counter shammies. But one thing i know for sure, this guy i mentioned above can destroy anybody he pleases. Only a very few like him shouldnt be messed with, at least not without a big group

Roll a troll, what is he going to do against 5HPS?

a druid could still win that fight through sheer attrition alone though. You could have changed the outcome of that fight hehe

I really wish I could find the original post you’re referencing…

this is the best I could do.
EDIT: replaced the wowhead link with one from the old forums, still not the original

So an elemental shammy can fight conflag locks…cool. But against a BIS, soul link warlock with 160 all magic resist (master demonologist + petrified scarab). Good luck with only doing pee damage when all he has to do, is press 4 buttons; curse of tongues, corruption, immolate, and life drain. Send the felhunter after all the totems, kick the bolt, coil the heal (he would have to make sure that ground breaking isnt active by quickly casting another drain and then coil, that pet and tongues will take that shammy quite sometime to even get one heal out, besides a healing pot) fear the shammy as the coils going out, then curse of elements, a soulfire crit along with a shadowburn and its pretty much gg. Oh and i forgot about dispells from felhunter. Would be better to have an enhance shammy IMO because he mostly just does melee dps, that warlock then would have to get the voidwalker out for more physical defence and hope that a windfury doesnt trigger too much, and if hes low on hp time the vw sac just as the shammy gets a few swings at him before purging. That enhance shammy is gonna need a shadow reflector as well, but even then, that still wont save them from this grusome monster i never wanna see again. It was the equivilant of seeing a nightmare in my dreams thats how brutal it was.

Other than just this one person i dont think shammies should have any trouble with locks at all. Should be faceroll. I hope this guy has better things to do than to reack havoc in classic.

Soul link warlocks are pretty strong in pvp to where it should be considered unfair. However a trick that somebody can do is simply stack full shadow resist gear and hope that hos spells gets resisted far too much. Thats pretty much the only way to kill SL locks, and thats IF your lucky. I know its unbalanced to the core but there is numerous options you can take to have a chance

Only a few classes have a chance to beat an SL lock 1vs1 Frost Mage having the best chance
